[RELEASE] DStv Now KODI Add-on

Got it. Thanks.

So for others having this problem, using a browser (eg Chrome) to login in now.dstv.com does not count as a device. Only when you use the DSTV app on a phone, tablet or smart TV does it count as a device. Using this addon with Kodi also counts as a device. You are only allowed 4 devices to be registered concurrently, and you can change 2 registered devices every 6 months.
Also if you have logged into DSTV Now in a browser, you are only allowed to have 2 windows open at a time even if nothing is playing. So if you have a tab open for DSTV Now in a PC browser not playing anything, another one on a phone browser and didn't close it and try to use the app or addon, it will most likely also refuse to play anything.
So only 2 active logins even if not streaming anything are allowed at any time.

New add-on setting for setting the Inputstream quality.
Find it under Addon Settings > Playback > Set Inputstream Quality.

Sort by Episode when listing seasons.
This makes Kodi show the episode number and puts in correct ordering.

The big feature is support for Matts IPTV Merge plugin.
This allows very easy EPG support via Kodi's TV menu.

All you have to do is install his IPTV Merge plugin:
https://www.matthuisman.nz/2019/02/iptv-merge-kodi-add-on.html

1) Go into IPTV Merge add-on settings and click "Setup IPTV Simple Client".
2) Go to Playlist > Add Playlist > Addon > DStv Now
3) Go to EPG > Add EPG > Addon > DStv Now
3) Press "Merge Now"
4) Wait 30 seconds
5) Done.

You will now have full epg & kodi tv support via Kodi "Tv" menu (see images below)

Note:
DStv epg does not return EPG for the current day for some reason.
https://www.dstv.co.za/guide/ (won't show anything for today)

So, the EPG will start working from the day after you run it.
IPTV Merge will automatically grab new epg data every 24 hours.

Once again, huge props to Matt Huisman for his work.
IPTV Merge add-on makes it so easy to add EPG support to a plugin.

The source for that guide data, doesn't have any description etc.
I'll try to find a better source.
https://guide.dstv.com/ has more information, but it's data isn't returned in a good format to process (html)

Thanks,

Jeremy
does this add on use up one of the four devices?

https://guide.dstv.com/ has more information, but that extra info is only returned from an extra request for that program when its clicked. The EPG needs to be in a single request if possible. Can't be requesting data for every program for every channel for 7 days.

Thanks,

Jeremy
Thanks Jeremy and Matt for this update and on how to configure the epg

@simmakombe

Inputstream Adaptive is included with Kodi 18.3
If your using some other sort of "build", you need to talk to whoever you got it from.

0.9.6 just uploaded.
This allows changing the device name in settings.
This is name that shows under devices in DStv.
Default is Kodi
