[RELEASE] DStv Now KODI Add-on

0.12.2 just pushed

1) Add filters to main OD categories. eg TV > Comedy
2) Add pagination to OD (this is what was causing the issue - they no longer like large page sizes)
3) Add fanart when browsing OD content
4) Add EPG Days to Generate to add-on settings. Default is 3. Can select from 1-7
Thanks OD catagoeries looks and works great. Thanks for all the good work

@COMPUTEK
That would make sense.
The OD is paginated now so only 24 items are grabbed at a time. Instead of all of them.

@JV@53
IPTV Merge had an update that changed the db schema. When that happens, it re-creates the tables (wiping the data). Because me and Matt are too lazy to write migrations. You'll just need to add the playlist back into IPTV Merge > Playlists >Add > Add-on > DSTV.

The new version will automatically add in the EPG. So just Run Merge after adding the playlist and should be back in action. Also the DSTV will by default only grab 3 days of data now (faster). So hopefully no more timeouts. You can increase / decrease this in the DSTV add-on settings.

Also, looks like NZ has now been unblocked.
So hopefully AU will follow soon and then the add-on can start using the EPGs I scrape.
Great man
Just had 2 tablets and a phone of kids going Haywire. Not nice answering a call from the wife and she starts a sentence with a different "HELLO"

It shouldn't be after every update. Only if I add new features that require DB changes.
IPTV Merge is still pretty early on in it's new re-write development.
Should be getting close to "stable"

You've just be unlucky when you started using it.
DSTV changes (blocking AU) and IPTV Merge changes (DB changes)

DSTV should like that, it stops N users scraping data down to 1 user scraping.

Usually after the addon had an update. @js9241698 explained it to you above.

Also keep in mind this addon is done in his free time as a hobby and he gets no payment for it, so he owes us nothing ;)
I hear you, I just wanted to know why, I'm not a Fundi but replied to your msg,

Thanks in the great Expalination @js9241698 ,
Wish you best of luck on future additions to this.

Lol dont say the 'D' word too loud, just now we upset them like while back when they send DMCA takedowns to Matt.

Yeah he only started using it recently and asked in the thread what iptv-merge's purpose was so I explained it to him. Took him some time to grasp it.

All I can say I was an early adopter and since the beginning I had to fix the playlist / epg settings from time to time but I'm not complaining, just grateful for these great addons.

If you take the time to read some of the older posts in this thread you will see that dstv took down this addon before. Most in here is just grateful for work being put into it and mostly don't ask any questions anymore.

You will also see some people in here that, as soon as something breaks, complain. They should be
1) Grateful the addon is still alive
2) Somebody is maintaining it in their free time.

not a problem :)

Just remember this is all 3rd party and done in spare time.
So try to not "complain" too much.

And try figure / fix things out first before posting.
You should know how now.

But here are the troubleshooting steps for Guide not working
  1. Make sure DSTV add-on is logged in and Live TV is working via the add-on itself
  2. Go to IPTV Merge and if there is a menu option for "Setup IPTV Simple Client" - then click it
  3. Check you have DSTV listed under Playlists & EPGs - if not then Add Playlist > Add-on > DSTV
  4. Run Merge
  5. Go to Kodi Settings > PVR & Guide > Clear Data

Just pushed new version that now has a new "Live TV / EPG" category in settings.
That is where the EPG Days setting is and....

A new "Setup IPTV Merge" that you can click.
This will install IPTV Merge (if not already), install IPTV Simple Client (if not already)
Then it will setup IPTV Simple Client, then it will add it's own Playlist / EPG sources to IPTV Merge.
Then it will run a merge.

Pretty much a 1-click setup button :)

This is pretty cool. I was thinking if there could be a way to make the "Setup IPTV Merge" a favourite it would be even easier to access. I know all the menu items in the addon one can via the context menu add it to favourites but obviously not from within settings. Would it be possible to make a setting (that can be toggled on and off) in the "Live TV / EPG" that can create / remove a Kodi favourite?

Ideally you only need to run it once initially though. Can't see why youd need it to so quick access?

Been watching this thread with interest for a while now, think it is time to try this on my Fire TV stik 4K. For those occasions there is something to watch, during the day at work.

Never used Kodi before, so may ask some noob questions, tho asking @enerdude , might save thread protocol. :)

Think this will be project for Saturday afternoon.

You are spoiling us with this. Wish we could return the favor

I am sure in the future the database structure might change again causing the playlist to disappear. Some people are technologically challenged and struggles to enter into multiple levels of settings, e.g. someone on here mentioned their wife hassling them constantly when something changed. So if a simple line can be written to favourites.xml it would make it easier for such people to fix things.
