Hi guys

I am currently hosting three of my blogs with Elite Host. I love them, they have a great customer support!

But since the beginning of last month I have been unhappy with the amount of down times I have been seeing. So I would
Like to transfer one of my blogs to one of The SA hosting companies. I just want to compare the services and decide after what I will do.

Will someone please (preferably someone with a website/blog hosted on a certain company) advise witch company I should go for? I was thinking Afrihost, because I think they have good support, but I need more online time for my sites than support!

Remember, I am currently looking for shared hosting.

Any suggestions peeps?

I've been through many shared hosting providers through the years and can honestly say that none are as good as my current one - Smartweb (www.smartweb.co.za).

The latency/speed, uptime and support/service are tops, and they have a representative on this forum aswell to sweeten the deal.
Pricing is competitive too so you can't really go wrong... check them out.

these guys are very good http://goo.gl/wMUWxJ

but tell you what ,i decided to stop browsing and got my own server, when you done browsing ,pm me ,i will slice you a gig for free or get a cybersmart one, also free, done:D

Afrihost may have great support but their uptime isn't always that great, well not in my experience.

Interestingly enough you may want to contact Elitehost about the downtime that you are experiencing.

From their site:
We also believe in uptime, and take all the necessary steps to ensure it. Every server is monitored 24/7/365 by our offsite monitoring software, regular server checks are completed, and any potential signs of issues are reported to the datacenter/techs immediately. Because of these proactive measure we're confident in offering a 99.9% uptime guarantee, backed by our SLA. We understand your sites accessibility is crucial, and take every precaution to make sure it stays that way.

Hi Siya,

Have a look here http://mihost.co.za/pricing.html see if any of this interests you.

We have direct support from clients to the actual technicians, so no delay in your support queries, some of the technicians will also offer their personal phone number.

We also have fantastic up time, all servers are hosted in Johannesburg.

PM me if you would like more details, we can also set up a trial account for you if you would like to try it out?

Warm regards
MI HOST

Has had some down time recently :/ Stick cloudfares "always on" if its mostly static content you have

Thanks man. I'll try to contact them.
Some time last week I saw my site visitors dropping by more than 100%! For three consecutive days! At first, I thought I was hit by a Google Algorithm update or something, when i surfed the net, I realized the last Update was at the beginning of this month, so it couldn't be it.
But everything is back to normal now.

Who are you hosting with and what's your experience with them?

Yes there was a time when they were upgrading one of their servers, I thinks 3 days ago. Thanks for the tip, but I run a blog, content is always changing. But I will do more research about that feature, I ddnt know about it.
