Reputation system: Yes or no?

Should we keep the reputation system on MyBroadband?

How is indicating you are indifferent with regards to the rep system constructive feedback? RPM needs to determine whether to boot the thing or not. It's a yes/no question.

Put differently, if 100% of forumites voted for the indifferent option, what would RPM need to do? The most constructive feedback in this case is either yes or no.
 
I voted no last time and now.

If you really want to keep the system, do what James did at mygaming. Make the positive/negative rep move by 1 point only for everyone. Not based on how much rep you have or how many posts you have (which is how the current rep system works I believe)

It would indicate that it's ultimately up to him and the mods: we don't care either way.

If a substantial number of people are indifferent and they vote "yes" or "no" depending on their mood at the time, it could skew the results, impacting the validity of the outcome and potentially negatively influence what would otherwise have been the majority.

Now, you might ask, "Why don't those who are indifferent simply not vote?" Simple: we all want to have our say, even if that isn't an opinion we completely agree with.

So you might actually be surprised to find that "indifference" is more constructive than you'd assumed. Or not.

Thanks, ChilliGirl. I found it earlier. I'd rather have avatars than a dark theme. But I preferred the dark theme... Everything is so... confusing now :p

I do, but the Dark Full theme doesn't show avatars for me at all.
 
Why not just have a sticky thread titled "Good Posts that you may have missed" or something similar, whereby members can paste interesting posts with links to the thread from which that post has been copied.

Indifference might then be somewhat constructive, but I maintain that for the purpose of this poll, it's most constructive to either vote yes or no.

/Don't know why I'm nitpicking on a Saturday evening though :o

It isn't doing any harm, and it is nice to be able to encourage someone or support their argument without having to do it publicly or without derailing a thread so I say keep it.

The reputation system in its current form is really pointless. If there was a way of implementing per-post rep as suggested a few posts back, it would add a lot more value to the forum. If that's not possible, I'd say no.

I want the slashdot system.
