Reputation system: Yes or no?

Should we keep the reputation system on MyBroadband?

Voted no, as there is no way it is enhancing the experience of myBB imo.

The problem is you can not see which posts have been nominated to receive "Rep" and thus it becomes pointless.
 
i voted yes as i knew how to use it, but yeah, you have people on TK going ape-**** then it's no better than mIRC :/ nice to know who approves of your posts and what matters to people

You could see which of your own posts got rep'd, in your own CP... which is all rather pointless. What'd actually add some value is to see which posts were regarded as noteworthy within a thread, and not just one's own.

Or being able to see another user's repped posts as you can see your own.

I don't like the titles given to the rep system.
Unknown quantity vs shining beacon of light.

I don't get it.
 
I voted no - it creates the perception of someone being knowledgeable in a discussion, whether relevant or not: a user might be an expert on cars, but not in LCD TVs. The rep system has no way of distinguishing.
 
So reps have suddenly vanished without fanfare - I'm posting here as it's the most current thread on the topic I could find.

Must say the forums seem cleaner without them, I also have have sigs & avatars turned off.

Thanks to the abuse where many got high rep by just continually rep'ping their buds back and forth. It was a stupid system from the word go. I am sure there are better systems but the best one I found is the one in place now;)

We had the system for a few weeks and there were already members who you could supposedly trust your children with so I don't know seemed to me that if you can gain so much reputation just like that what is the use?
