I have created a social network with BuddyPress, I need the social network to cater to one or two thousand simultaneous users without being slow. Will Afrihost's Cloud hosting platinum package be sufficient?

Social Network? You are going to need a lot more.

If you are self hosting you will need to know

1. how to ssh into your server using something like Bitvise SSH Client
2. how to set up a firewall, something like ufw
3. how to set up a web server like apache or nginx
4. how to set up a database on the server
5. possibly how to set up docker depending how you want to run some of the above
6. how to continously backup and then restore your system if something goes wrong
7. and a whole lot of other things....

Coming back here after a few months to leave an update: I’ve tested several options – Hostinger, Contabo, and even Vultr for a short time – but only mvps.net stayed stable under heavy traffic. For a BuddyPress project, a VPS with 4 GB RAM seems to be the sweet spot between cost and performance. The others had random latency spikes or occasional downtime.
