even if I did take a picture of the tank, they would argue its not a tank and part of the body work or some ridiculous reply as seen here. No point continuing further, if they wish to believe theres no tank behind the seat then I'm not going to bother any further trying to convince them otherwise.

So you won't be supplying us with a picture?

whats the point, you clearly suffer from confirmation bias, I really have my doubts a picture will convince you otherwise so why bother

Oh bollocks - if you have a picture of the tank post the bloody thing - that other photo above clearly shows no tank - maybe you have one of those extra ones fitted like the link I originally gave you, or abzo's second link.

Personally I would love to see a picture of this...

As I said, I've stripped 2 E30's completely and I never saw one...

the photo shows nothing, that camera angle cuts out the section behind the seat

but confirmation bias, thats the danger of it

maybe phone BMW and ask them if there is tank behind the seat, you can argue with them that it doesn't exist and you have pics to prove it.

just because you didn't see it, doesn't mean it wasn't there, as I said, you may have mistaken it for part of the body or it may not be installed in entry level models.

Certainly, in this picture, there is no tank behind the seat. :)
But you also need to recognise that the picture does not include everything behind the backseat. There's a whole section under the boot lining and behind the seat that is not visible in this picture, so it's far from conclusive.

no point Arthur, they are convinced theres no tank and no matter what you say or show will convince them otherwise

LOL, so how high must it be tucked up under the parcel shelf? :D

From what I've gathered searching further, and in-line with abzo's first link, you do get a BMW auxiliary fuel tank but it is not a factory-fitted standard item, very much aftermarket. Incredibly rare item judging by the responses in forums where it is mentioned.

I haven't the faintest clue about the tank.

The closest I ever came to a BMW is one I bought my wife, but that was before the Rinderpest. Sold it for R1 to family. All I can say for sure is it had a petrol tank with a filler cap. I'm a Merc guy who currently drives an i20 for fun.

Still, as an impartial observer of this debate, I don't think irrefutable evidence has been presented by anyone. Rouxenator's pic is intriguing. The popcorn is still warm.

the only irrefutable evidence is to actually strip the entire rear end and take a clip of petrol flowing out of the reserve tank behind the seat

simply taking a picture of the tank will not suffice, as I said Fazda clearly suffers from confirmation bias, so in order to defend his point to the death he will say "yes you took a picture of a piece of metal you say is the tank, but how do we know theres petrol in it"

if he wants to be proven wrong, he can call BMW and argue with them

Thanks - that is what I originally found, and that is what I thought too, but the feathers are so ruffled around here, that we aren't goping to get a straight answer by the look of things.

Are you about five-years old? You will quite easily see the difference between the metal bulkhead & floor of the boot and a fuel tank. The pipes connecting to the fuel pump and the fuel filler will be a dead giveaway as well.

Stop putting words in my mouth - my request was simple - if the tank is there, show us a picture, and we can take your word for it. What's with this "confirmation bias" cr@p - learnt a new word?
