I have a OneBlade, but havent touched that as I received one of these as a gift - unsure if Phillips has the same type of 'station' but this thing wipes the floor with most options

It sure is steep, but then I have the benefit of receiving it as a gift..
I am balding, and for a few years now the OneBlade worked - but this thing is just magic since I use it to shave my head daily.

I have a series 7, fantastic machine. Have it for easy more then 10 years. Still goes strong. I have replaced the head once during that time.

Tip for the cleaning station cartridges, you dont need to buy new cartridges, you can clean it out and fill with an alcohol solution you can buy at dischem or clicks etc.

Wish someone would gift me a series 9.

Much like a entry level vs expensive OneBlade the 1000 and 3000 series use the same cutting heads but the 3000 series spins faster and being Li-ion it keeps cutting faster for longer so the experience is noticeably better. It cuts with less passes and misses less spots. The 5D flexible head is nice but even the budget 1000 has plenty flex in the cutters themselves, the real benefit is in the higher cutting speeds and the li-ion battery. Philips doesn't publish the speeds of the units but AI thinks its the 30000 is a good 50-100% faster than the 1000 series.

Turns out the 5D head does actually have a good use, the 1000 series can make my neck area quite red/raw sometimes and misses a few bits but the 3000 series with the 5D head does not inflame my neck and virtually doesn't miss a spot so it does indeed have a noticeable benefit.

I can't say I've noticed much difference between a shaver or Oneblade when it’s hot but I have noticed I’m more often cleanly shaved nowadays with the new shaver because it’s so quick and easy

I've got a Philips 1000 series that lasted me 10yrs. Decided to try a Clicks R500 shaver to see what they like. Mistake. The old Philips as worn out as it is still gives a far better shave. Lesson learnt.

I don’t know how you guys get bye with these electric shavers. They are an absolute joke for actual shaving. It’s never a properly smooth shave, and by lunchtime have a 5 o clock shadow going again.

Sure, they work out a lot cheaper than actual razor blades, but if you want a clean shave, a razor stays the only option. If you want to save money, then get a straight razor and sharpening kit, and your set for life - or grow a beard and then you can use an electric trimmer just to keep it in check.

No they're not. Shaves much faster than a wet blade and works out much cheaper because the blades last longer, you don't need shaving cream and after shave balm etc. etc. Plus it shaves close enough that you can go on a date or job interview and still look neat.

It’s never a properly smooth shave, and by lunchtime have a 5 o clock shadow going again.

Who cares? The world has moved on and it's not the 1950's anymore. Don't need a baby's bottom smooth shave.

Also maintaining a beard is more expensive than the R100 odd rand I spend a year on blades and not having to deal with a beard when it's 40 degrees outside is also a nice plus. I'll stick with my electric razor thank you very much.

That looks like a good deal. Only problem is those rotary shavers give me the worst neck rash imaginable.

Cheaper yes, faster maybe, close enough, no chance. I tried a Philips 3 head shaver back in high school already, and if I shaved at 06:30 in the morning with it, I would fail a cotton wool test by 08:00. That’s not a close shave.

Yes, the world has moved on, but stubble remains untidy and unsightly. That’s why when you decide to grow out a beard you do it over a weekend or while on holiday. Going to work with a day old stubby beard just looks crap. If you shave with an electric shaver, you have that stubble by lunch time, even if you shaved in the morning.

Also if you want razor burn, redness and skin irritation.

Maybe if your actually a girl

Scraping off some old dead skin is part of the grooming process is it not?

I had a mid level Phillips shaver for a good 15yrs before I got my 1000 series last year, never changed the blades once and it still shaved well, they are incredible value for money.

That looks like a good deal. Only problem is those rotary shavers give me the worst neck rash imaginable.

Moving from the 1000 series which gave me slight neck rash to the 3000 series with 5D head totally stopped the neck rash, the 5000 should be even better in that regard but I suppose you'll never know unless you use one.

Ai there's always that one greasy Greek dude that needs to shave twice a day or he looks like a criminal.
Millions of people happily use shavers on the daily and have no issues with the bs you are mentioning.

Was talking about my Oneblade. Around black friday the blades go around R100 or even cheaper.
I'll stick to saving time, money and the environment thanks.

I work hard to maintain that untidy and unsightly look, which is why I love electric shavers. I am keeping an eye out for OneBlades on sale to help make sure I can go to work with a 3 day stubbly beard, every day.

Speaking of Philips shavers, my wife was cleaning out a bathroom cabinet and found my old Philishave 135 shaver. Probably 20+ years old. It was not used a lot, the shaver gave me quite a rash, so I just continued with old-school shaving with blades. Practically new condition, going to ask my brother-in-law if there isn't someone at his place of work that would have use for it.

Used a oneblade for a while but went back to just buying a 4pack of bic quattro or whatever they are called every year or so. Cheaper and much more effective. I shave my head and my face.
