Reviews and recommendations for Philips Shavers?

Used a oneblade for a while but went back to just buying a 4pack of bic quattro or whatever they are called every year or so. Cheaper and much more effective. I shave my head and my face.

Yea R85 for 4, leave it in the shower no batteries and just drop it in the bin and get a new one out when it gets blunt.

That looks like a good deal. Only problem is those rotary shavers give me the worst neck rash imaginable.

I've been using a rotary shaver for years, so I'm used to it. I just wanted something newer to replace my old clapped out Remington.

My 10yrs+ old Philips shaver still works well but it's getting pretty tired and I'd like to replace it.
I mostly use the shaver for the flat areas and use a Philips OneBlade for under the chin and all the finicky stuff.

Would a Philips 1000 series for R600 work well for that or is it worth paying around double to move up to a 3000 series shaver?
Going by the reviews I've read the legendary Philips shaver reliability with them lasting 10-20yrs is long gone and 2-3yrs is what you will get these days so if a 1000 series will do the job that may be the best bet considering it will probably die in a year or two.

I know it's sacrilege to ask in these parts but I'll ask anyway... are there any other brands of shaver worth considering other than Philips?

If you mainly shave flat areas and already use a OneBlade for detail work, the 1000 series will likely do the job and save you money, since the core shaving performance between 1000 and 3000 is not night and day for light to normal beards; the 3000 series usually adds comfort features like better flex heads and wet use, but not double the shave quality. If you expect only 2 to 3 years out of it anyway, I would not overspend. As for other brands, Braun Series 3 or 5 are solid alternatives if you prefer foil shavers, they often give a slightly closer shave on flat areas but can feel harsher on sensitive skin.

I got a 1000 series initially and then a li-ion 3000 series recently with the 5D head and it is a worthwhile upgrade.
Cuts better/faster and far less rash if any under the neck.

Ok, I'm not going to write a long review. There are many out there and they are pretty accurate so just a few observations from me.
Fit and finish is good and feels like a quality product.
Shaving is fast. Although it does not sound like the blades are spinning fast, this thing cuts quickly. I probably shaved in under two minutes flat.
Easy to clean, just pop the head open, rinse under the tap and give it a shake to get the water out. I leave it open to dry.
I got a pretty close shave with it. Way better than my clapped out old Remington or my One Blade.
The only small gripe is the on-off button. I found myself accidently pressing it while shaving. Guess I just need to change the way
I hold it.
Charges quickly too. Overall I'm happy..

Turns out I was spot on lol.

Motor is probably weaker. Honestly I can't say for sure and I don't really notice it

I found the PQ206 to shave very similarly to a full-fledged Philips Series 3000.

In other words, it was a reasonably fast, very comfortable rotary that fared surprisingly well even with flat-lying hairs.

I’d say it punches way above its weight, since again we’re dealing with a compact dual-head rotary.

The closeness was satisfactory, especially on the cheeks, but could have been better on the chin and moustache area.
