RIP Charlie Kirk

Charlie Kirk cannot be equated to Hitler.
He was no authoritarian ruler.
He did not order the deaths of millions of people

You can disagree with his views, sure. But being happy he died? No, that can only be a tragic loss.
People actually appreciated his willingness to reach accross the political divide. That's rare on both sides.

The man was only 31 with a young wife and two very young children. A person would have to be incredibly callous to celebrate his passing.
I'm sorry but which people appreciated his "willingness to reach across the political divide"?..... Idk your feed must be different to many other people's. Yes he wasn't as polarising as Nick Fuentes, but he was far from centrist or accomodating other views.

As for comparable to Hitler, no-one says he was, the point is one man's genius is another man's demon. And we should take that into consideration when we judge people's responses.

A funeral cortege is the line of cars behind the hearse with their lights on. Respect means you didn't try to push through the mourners and let them pass before proceeding, even if you had the right of way. It took maybe 5 minutes of your time.

Have we become so callous as a society?
It's not quite the same though, this is an online forum.

Beating people in a debate using logic, facts and critical thinking is violent?

Our education systems need a reboot; instead of teaching students what to think, we should teach them how to think. Which is what Kirk did, and those taught what to think would kill for being proven wrong. It seems to cause physical pain when you realise what you have learned is not logical or factual.
You seem to very narrowly focus on his debating and conveniently ignoring his political views that angered his opponents.....but hey I get it, the man is dead and we aren't suppose to speak ill of the dead. That's the Civilised thing to do right?

Doesn't sound like his death was being condoned, it did sound an awful lot like victim blaming. But the lionisation of him when he has said some pretty awful things in the past is not honest either.

When has truth and logic been awful?

And how were his political views a reason to kill him? By your (idiotic) reasoning, anyone that sits somewhere else to me on the political spectrum is fair game for murder.

I wonder about this, it is clear that a lot of people want to push gun control. In South Africa they want to eliminate our ability to protect ourselves.

Now people will use this man's death to advocate for removal of individual privacy, removal of the ability to own a firearm. This makes me sick to my stomach. In the end of the day criminals have more laws protecting them then us. But it is worse then that. The fact that people advocate for the murder of others and that they are vocal about it sickening.

The next step is the UK is going to get their way and all of us will lose our privacy, all of us will lose our anonymity. But it will also be the end of opinion, freedom of speech. This is not something I want to be apart of. I rather cut my internet and downgrade to a dumb phone.

Things is going to go very bad very fast now that they got someone important and murdered them. It really feels like a conspiracy

he was not wrong.

You said authoritarian, not me. Why shouldn't there be zero tolerance to violence? Why should they let Lefty judges allow violent criminals back on the streets without bail?
Zero tolerance to violence leads to confiscation of weapons and means to defend against tyranny.....now as a gun control advocate I'm agreeable to less firepower in the hands of unstable people but I do believe you should have a right to defend yourself (preferably with less than 6 shots but that just my personal opinion).....

You are fixated with the notion that the lefties won't ever be in charge again....buddy, even if the US devolves into a civil war at some point a leftwing government will be in charge again....why would you open Pandora's box when you don't need to?

There's no rules for thee and not for me, eventually those rules you set up for them, will be used on you too.

(As the "constitutional democrats" are finding out now)

RIP to my favourite debater. The close-up video was shocking to see, I can't imagine what his wife must be going through after having had a front row seat to that.

The comments on Twitter confirm it is the cesspool of the internet, people are literally celebrating his death and saying it was well deserved/should have come sooner.

Why are you projecting a view on me, that I've clearly stated I'm against?

I've stated repeatedly killing someone because their views are disagreeable is irrational and should be condemned.

Are your responding to me or what you want me to be? 😁

I have said it many times before. Being offended is just dependent on what side you on.
Many SA political leaders or their voters deaths have been celebrated here on MBB. Many Ukrainian soldiers deaths have been celebrated here on MBB. Many Russian soldiers death have been celebrated here on MBB.
The people being offended by these celebrations, are just offended when its someone on their side that died, not on the other side.
They are sick on both sides of the fence.

Yours are the views of someone who has most likely not been close to people being killed. Civilisation is insulated from death. Like meat comes in packets from a supermarket.

Until you see death up close and personal, of friends and the guy who could have been a friend but was born under another political system and your side had to kill him for it, you will not understand the sheer idiocy and futility of unnecessary death. Are you surprised by the revulsion military veterans have of war?

Twitter is just a release valve for people who is sad and angry about their own lives and try to vent and seek validation.

We shouldn't be surprised that those types of sentiments would be amplified by that algorithm.

That, but you said, is disgusting and defending this for any reason is disgusting.

It's not right to kill someone over an opinion.
From my POV yes.
What if that opinion is about the genocide of your people ?
Charlie had strong opinions on both Ukraine and Gaza.

I have strong opinions on people who use violence as an ends to a means... but what of those who condone it ?
His opinion was that the people of Gaza asked for the violence that is being inflicted on them...
So perhaps it's understandable that someone from Gaza might have a disagreement with him ?

If you're referring to the US, I can promise you that if there was even a slight chance of that happening before, which there wasn't, that chance is FUBAR.

The US as we know it today would fall apart completely before that ever happens, even the Democrats know it.
So don't stress.

You're missing the point. Kirk and his utterances enviked the same feeling to his enemies as Hussein did to his. You just agreed more with Kirk than Saddam.

I disagree that Kirk didn't practice violence, violence comes in all forms, and othering people on a subjective bases is a form of violence, not physical but psychological. In the same way can condemn the radio DJ who dehuminized and incited the mob to kill in the Rwandan genocide as violent even though he "only used words".

We can't absolve people from any action after they died, it does them a disservice.....what we Should be debating is that having disagreeable opinions should not be fatal. That's what this situation calls for.
Jou F8KK#N hamster het van sy wiel af geslet! Daars nie pille vir mense soos jy nie!

I style myself as a centre-leftist politically, but over-all I side with empathy for humanity.

I do not care for extremism either way.
