RIP Dion Wired

Game, Makro, Dion Wired all sell similar products and at time identical with differing prices. This was bound to happen to either one of them. It just never made sense.
This! They had the same stuff for the same price. Dion Wired only offered electronics thought, where the rest have a much bigger variety.

They killed themselves off.

Not surprised. They were aimed at the "price isn't an issue" market, which in SA is probably considerably less than 1% of consumers.
Yeah, Rich, single women who need printer for her daughter's school project at the upmarket Curro. "Don't worry darling, we will get it whatever it costs. Next week is botox"

Walk into Makro, always more staff than customers.....and a loud lot they are too....
Game Cradlestone just staff, no customers.

Dion in our city long closed down for no business. Game, incredible, HiFi next in line. our economy is fekd up
My local Hifi corp branch is now 25% the size it was when it first opened, the Incredible Connection is 50% smaller now.

Malls need to start lowering their rent or its going to be a blood bath.

Game, Makro, CNA, Incredible, Verimark.....All these $tore$ will eventually close as they do not know how to enter the online world, have a good website, logistics or how to deliver products on time and efficiently.
Especially incredible who's online is a joke, I ordered 3 products over a month ago, they split the order as one had too come from another shop, they used RTT logistics as the courier, RTT logistics is a joke as they can't track my order, last update said it was out for delivery a week ago.

I wanted a USB-A to USB-C adapter from Incredible. R79 online, no stock in store.

I went to the website and the only way to get it was to have it couriered, for free, to my home. No click and collect in store was available. Now tell me how on earth this business will survive? I'm actually embarrassed for them.

Oddly enough, even though the economy is indeed struggling, brick and mortar stores of all kinds are closing down all over the world due to the change in people's shopping habits. Online is far cheaper and more convenient for most people now with delivery times often being the next day. It's simply a sign of the times.

Yup I know it's ridiculous, though it might take months for you to get your adapter if you did order it that way, as it seems they use a one man show for their courier company. As he couldn't find any of the numbers Incredible gave me, than he tells me not to get angry with me, I'm like how can a courier company not have the tracking number sent by the company?

Funnily enough

Still trying to figure out why Game still exists? I mean especially when the one at Clearwater is the worst at keeping stock I've ever seen.

I don’t know if you’re agreeing with me or not? :p
The massmart division that includes Game and Dion Wired registered almost a R400 Million loss, it's a question of much of the losses are due to Dion Wired and how much are from Game.

Simply because they are in the same malls as their competition, shutting down Game is basically handing over revenue to their competition.

Looking at the revue infographic I posted from their annual report, they'll probably start rolling more Makro Stores and when they are a high enough saturation level you'd see the Game stores in the smaller malls shutdown.

Right now there are only 3 Makro Stores in Durban there's definitely room for more branches

eSad. I was at the opening of the first Dion's when he opened it on Louis Botha AVE in Cyreldine. I went to a "Wired" once and said never again. Garbage "customer service"

But have you seen how dead the Cornubia branch is? I have a friend who works there, quite high up, and even though the Cornubia branch is bigger and much nicer it does nowhere near the same trading that Springfield does, not really sure why that is because Springfield traffic is a nightmare most times.

Location Location Location.

Springfield has all of those business around it, and vast swathes of high density residential.

Cornubia doesn't, and its a pain to get to for most people. Springfield is just easier, even with the traffic. Plus I can go to Springfield and then mosey on over to other shops easily without having to get into my car if I don't want to. Toti is the same being across the road from Arbor Village (or whatever its called)
