Rocketnet - feedback?

Hi There

As CEO of RocketNet we are working together with the FNO’s and assess the impact it has on the FNO network, most speed issues stem from either inside the FNO network or the customers WiFi.

We will be informally rolling out these speed upgrades as the FNO rolls them out. To make sure that we assess and test and don't break anything we are conducting these upgrades in a phased approach. For now we are upgrading all 10 and 20 Mbps customers as most 100Mbps customers will not need additional bandwidth.

Then assess and continue, the approach is so that we dont have a catastrophic failure, that could bring everyones service down.

We are making sure we do things properly and are more concerned about keeping people connected and up and running.

Everyone is working from home and everyone deserves to be connected and online. We therefore prioritise that as No.1.

Hope this sheds more light
Got mine. Thank you

@simons Hello. I see Vumatel claims they delayed fibre price increases, but Rocketnet has already increased my price based on the vuma increase. Will Rocketnet revert to the prior price, or stay at the increased price?

Hi @RocketNet-Rep

We chatted here in October about native or dual stack ipv6, and you mentioned there were one or two things to iron out.

I am wondering if there is any progress?

I am using he.net tunnel and the speeds lately are not so great, and the tunnel is in JHB where I am in PE which peers mainly in CT

We do have IPv6 up and running in Beta, send us a support request or pop me a DM.

Have been using the dual stack ipv6 (beta) now for about a week and its rock solid, thanks Rocketnet for hooking me up its much better than using the HE tunnels :)

Giving my own feedback regarding installation.

- Signed up for 100/100 on April 30th (Thursday) on Vumatel Aerial
- Hoped to lock-in the free 2 months, but was told it only applied up to end May.
- Already had a fibre line, so installation would of been done same day had I no issues
- I had issues though. Couldn't PPPoE, but this got fixed Monday (today).
- Speeds are very good, but my WiFi needs upgrading to benefit from it
- Very helpful support staff and ticket-based system
- Their customer zone is not as good as Afrihost, but billing info and documentation is there.
- Would be nice to see some product control (cancel/upgrade/downgrade/etc...) in there too.
- From signup to install would of been done in mere hours I suspect if my ONT was playing its part.

All in all, I'm happy at this initial stage of the process.

How has Rocketnet been with international traffic during lockdown?, pretty keen on going with them as soon as metrofibre are done installing.

@RocketNet-Rep Any Intl issues at the moment, struggling to load AWS console in eu-west2 and some other sites like tempo

Edit: think Cambridge is a bad example, the loss seems to be on the last hop, looking for something else to check as AWS blocks traceroutes

I was in a VC with a bunch of people on Teams, so downloading bandwidth wasn't idle. 200/200 line - this was on WIFI.

international speeds and browsing are really down the crapper with pages taking long to load and timing out since yesterday and pings are up and down

Same here. Site always shows this but actual browsing experience is close to Telkom ADSL 10 Mbps.
