Rocketnet - feedback?

try another cable.
Unfortunately I can't as my house is cabled through the roof and walls.

I have changed the following setting in cmd: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
Seems like the speeds are fine now.

Would you say there is a definite problem with the cable though?

Tried to sign up with Rocketnet. Asked via their whatsapp if they allow manual EFT payments instead of debit orders. Was assured they do. But during the signup process they want all my bank details and to agree to a debit order. Whatsapp person says just to agree and put in a special instruction to not debit order despite having to a agree. Walked away. Sad that a tech company cannot resolve such a simple issue.

Having horrible streaming (F1 TV App and MS Teams) and intermittent drops...

Hi @ambroseg1, all new RocketNet signups require the new sign-up information to be vetted to ensure that the customer is a legitimate customer with a valid bank account. This stops customers from putting in bogus banking information and incurring unnecessary banking costs at time of collection, this also ensures our sign-up process is seamless.

We have a customer portal where our customers, who prefer to not be on debit order, can login and manually pay their invoices using our secure payment gateway - Payfast. Here they can pay using Credit Card & Cheque Card, Debit Card, SCode Voucher (paying with cash at Checkers, Checkers Hyper, Shoprite, House & Home, Post Office), Instant EFT, Masterpass OR Zapper.

vetted? for a PREPAID service. getthefckouttahere  if i dont pay, you cut off the service. you have zero right to my bank details. the only thing yoy are entitled to is FICA info which is a copy of my ID and proof of address.
totally unethical business practice. no thanks. will pass.

@ambroseg1 We do not offer pre-paid services.

Hats off to rocketnet and openserve

Placed an openserve new install on 7 September. Up and running today.

1 week from order to installation and activation.

Was expecting 4 to 6 weeks

You are renting the line from the FNO and you are renting the service from the ISP. So in the very simple term, you can say it is a lease agreement.
True. But that in no way warrants a "vetting" of bank details. If the service is not paid for, it is cancelled.

That’s not how it works. And it’s not a prepaid service.

We have obligations to our FNO’s and can lose money if you don’t pay. Furthermore we need to make sure you are who you say you are by vetting your info, as we need to comply with law. And avoid fraudsters.

We have multiple ways of paying via Payfast, if your not happy with that then unfortunately we cannot assist.

We do however need your banking details as if you don’t pay before the time via payfast then we debit your account.

The only people who have access to my account for debit orders are my home and vehicle finance because I actually OWE them money. And vetting my info as required by the FICA law, is through a copy of my ID and proof of residential address. My bank account details have nothing to do with you. There are just too many cases of ISPs charging customers for nonsense (like a router that was never delivered or asked for) or making mistakes and taking either incorrect amounts or any amounts (should the amount already have been paid). Debit order is a way for you to hold customers ransom. I will pass. Business is obviously good on your side. You dont need a customer like me.

And your excuses may have carried some weight if debit orders was standard practice accross the entire industry which it certainly is not. I currently pay via EFT. Have so for 4+ years. No problems. My current ISP hasn't a clue what bank account details are. They have also never asked for them.

And with regards to your PM, no I will not call you.

No need to be so butt hurt.

Either comply with their terms of providing you with their service or move on. There are literally hundreds of other ISPs you could go with and not make a fuss out of or make someone else’s life a bit more difficult. Grow up.

Shame.

Ye i really don't get it either. Company has built a business in a certain way, they advise you about it and instead of deciding, like an adult, if you want the service or not you have the typical "entitled" response and moan.

I was with rocketnet for 6 months about 1.5years ago, moved to mindthespeed. Both were fine no issue switch billing etc.

Anyway as I said a few posts back.rocketnet went from order to installation and activation in 1 week so kudos to them

Seems like some people are just a bit anal, especially if you look at their post history.
