Rocketnet - feedback?

anybody know why there is packet loss on hop 3 on the rocketnet network for the last 2-3 weeks

Probably just a router not responding to ping requests at the highest urgency, unfortunately the end host is not responding so you can't see if that loss on hop 3 is carrying to the end.

More than likely its not since its only on hop 3

Good to know, if I ever get fibre.

Presumably, tests like these mean nothing, or not much if using LTE because of the wireless nature of it?
No it will still apply. There should be no packet loss. The only difference is the ping will be higher than fibre on lte. If there is packetloss there is a problem. Either local lastmile (tower or exchange) or anywhere in between. It’s just the last hop that needs to be clean to pass the test.

There seems to be an issue, struggling with upload and download speeds of below 1Mpbs and local ping sky high plus jitter of more that 500ms. This is on Vumatel trenched in the Durbanville area.

So feedback from Rocketnet is that there is a network incident for Vumatel Cape Town active ethernet. Anyone else in Cape Town that can confirm, on a different ISP?

Here on Rocketnet in Plumstead on OpenServe and zero issues.

Brother also in Plumstead on Vumatel Rocketnet, internet unusable.

Looks like it may indeed be a Vumatel issue then here down south on Rocketnet...

in the last 2 weeks speeds has really gone down the crapper. it does not matter where we ping to there is always packet loss over the rocketnet/vuma/seacom network. on international download speeds we are not even getting half line speed with browsing also much worse than it used to be. does anybody know what is going on. thanks

Bro you have been complaining for like 2 years. Why not just move ISPs and leave poor rocketnet alone? they are fantastic

Please can I request you log a call with us, we want to work with you to investigate further and find a resolution.

@RocketNet-Rep
Any chance of the required MTU adjustment on OpenServe going away, or going back to default?
I'm shopping for a new mesh system, and the systems from TP-Link's Deco range, which I'm considering, doesn't have the option to set the MTU differently.

Unfortunately not, as per the terms of how we receive the connection from Openserve (L2TP), we have to run multiple tunnels within themselves (PPPOE), thus MTU is fixed to 1462 at this stage.
