Roku 3 tips and discussions.

So I received my replacement ROKU 3 after the initial item arrived with a sticky directional button on the remote. The replacement is 100%. I sent the faulty package back today via UPS in PE at Amazon's cost.

Where do you get these?
I had it sent home in the UK and they posted it on to me.

I think that you will need to get a UK resident to purchase one for you online for 10GBP from the NowTV online shop and then mail it to you. There are a few sellers on Amazon UK but they charge more than 10GBP. You still need to pay shipping and any other local VAT charges once it arrives in SA.

Yes, the ones from the shops in the UK cost more but you usually get a few extra months of entertainment/movies thrown in.

Do you have Netflix and Hulu Plus available? If not you will need to first unlink... /snip

Procedure - follow in order
Unlink your Roku from the current

Post again if you are still having problems.

Thanks a lot bud, just got my little box and was having trouble getting the US apps but your procedure sorted me

Anyone looking for a discounted Roku 3? I need to return one to Amazon but am struggling to find an easy route to get it back to them as UPS have declined. The device is as new with everything in the box as it arrived. My reason for returning is that the directional button on the remote is a bit sticky when pressing downward. My wife said she didn't notice but I am painful when it comes to something like that.

Amazon are going to bill me $99 for the replacement they shipped if I don't return this one so does anyone want to buy it for a grand? I will even courier it to your address for free.

Hey Flash, sending you a pm now

Ok just noticed the roku3 broadcasts its wifi direct for the remote on the same channel as my wifi and I'm not digging the behaviour as there is bound to be interference. Has anyone found a way around this besides using an ethernet cable?

Change the channel your wifi is using?

I've tried that and the roku follows along to whatever channel you change to. Seems like it broadcasts on the same channel it's receiving on by desing but im not so sure

That's odd.
Are you actually experiencing any interference?

I have 5 Roku's in my house and 2 wireless access points (both dual 2.4 and 5) and not experienced any interference (about 2 years now).

I setup the box over the weekend so havent had much time with it yet, but bottom line is if the wifi networks are on the same channel that may result in interference. So am just trying to be kinda proactive on that one rather than waiting for problems

Don't think you need to worry about it dude.

You definitely don't need to worry about it.

Interference from? Personally, given the number of wifi connected devices I have in my house, I can't see how this would make even the slightest difference.

Yes, but how many wifi routers do you have in your house? The Roku becomes a 2nd wifi router on the same channel. I think they do this to save on hardware costs, but I have had no problems and my TV is quite far from my wifi router.
If you have a dual band wifi router you can use the 5Ghz band for the Roku and apparently the Roku only uses the 2.4Ghz band for the remote. I haven't tried this because as I mentioned, I haven't had any problems on 2.4Ghz.
