Roku 3 tips and discussions.

For those of you using plex...

You all use direct play, right? I just tried some transcoding and I think my hp microserver just had a heart attack! :)

Both my ROKU's set to AUTO in Plex and they are both able to stream 1080p simultaneously from my stock n54l microserver.

Most likely just a stream copy or direct play then. You could probably easily manage more than that if no transcoding is necessary.

In this case the media server is a WD MyBook 4GB NAS, not a PC. And how do I install Plex on the Roku?

It's available on the channel store, check under photo and video

I have picked up a problem lately with my Roku 3.

for some odd reason, after the last update, whee the background turned green, my remote stops connecting to the roku, the only fix is i have to reboot the roku in order to get the remote to work...

anyone else had this issue?

When was the update? Both of mine were working fine last night.

Have you tried just pairing the remote again by using the reset button at the back?

@Slamz: Your problem might be related to remote now broadcasting in the 2.4GHz channel instead of the 5GHz channel that was being used previously. Roku is apparently working on a fix.

I read through that thread. My ROKU's are hard wired. If you are using wifi for your ROKU, hardwire it and see if the remote behaves.

What is your router's Ip address? Try use that one instead and test

So I tried this again using 192.168.2.1 and still get replies. Any idea what else it could be or what else I could try? I have a Belkin router.
