Hey guys,

I'm currently running my 8ta Internet 5 on a Huawei E220 along with a DLink DIR-451 router to my PC and Xbox. Basically this is my internet solution at home.

Now, in an attempt to get better speeds, both internet and wifi network, I am contemplating selling off my DIR-451 and E220, and getting a TPLink MR3420 and a Vodafone K4605/Huawei E372.

My question is this: Will there be a difference? I mean, why is the DIR-451 about R 1,500.00 new where the MR3420 is only R 450.00 odd? Is the Dlink a better router, albeit slower?

Confused...

I have a xbox with wifi adapter and mr3420 setup. It works well but the TP-Link is not the most stable of routers. Be prepared to reboot it often. Also go and read on this forum about the combination of modem and router.

You see, that's what I need to hear. Because at the moment I am connected 24/7 without dropping the line or rebooting once... And that at 5mbps...

Look im sure with future firmware releases it will get fixed and you should keep in mind I am using a cell c zte 668. I had a e220 modem and it worked well with my tp-link.

this thread has some negative posts. There are however a few happy customers. It seems you need to just get the right router and modem combination.

I had a e220 with a dlink dsl2650
was 24/7 and prob only had to reboot 3 times in about the 5 months I had it

Was great until they broke in and stole it
now i got the tplink with k4505z (i think)
but its nowhere near as stable/reliable as my old setup

Damn, I am so confused... I like my DLink except for the fact that I can't use my K4605 and it's uber-slow wifi...
