I have a MWEB locked Billion 7401VGP and every now and then the entire router will restart. I thought there was something wrong with mine so I borrowed my friends exact same router that he doesn't use anymore and the same thing happens.

Can it be a problem with these routers or is it a Telkom fault that causes the entire router to reboot? I understand a line fault causing it to disconnect but not restarting the entire thing.

Has anyone had a similar thing happen or know what the problem might be?

Thanks

Ah yes, I shall try another power supply. I didn't think of that, thanks.

If not the power supply, the router is just a POS. That is the fact of life unfortunately. Specs can only tell one so much about a router...

You could also try cooling it with a desk fan to see if there is any improvement.

I had a friend with the same issue, would just restart randomly, and eventually someone (I'm guessing MWeb tech) told him its something to do with the ADSL line attenuation - Advised a replacement router, apparently Netgear are good with high attenuation.

I haven't heard back from him whether it sorted out the issue or not, but that may be something to get you started with ;)
