RouteSentry for Vista (beta) - please help me test

I will ask my friend if he still has my list.. lost my firefox settings so i don't have my list anymore :( Also there is like only a handful 'real' ones, the restjust kinda point to one of the 5 or so, at random times, that i figured out i noticed.
 
ant1b0dy, any idea how long it will take you to get a copy of Vista?

I'll mail one to you if it will help get this working :p
 
Well I now have Vista but still no half bridge capable modem... :(

I've worked around some Vista related problems with one of the API calls used by the program so the routes should get created now. :)

You'll need to start this version as Administrator (right click on the RouteSentry.exe file and select 'run as administrator') or it won't do anything.

Let me know if this one works any better...! :D

btw some issues i found were in similar vain..
if the lan cable disconnects for some reason and pppoe session hangs & drops then route sentry can't route traffic after its fixed.. even restarting application won't work(dang it i need a crimp tool for my network dodgy cable fitting) have to reboot :( its like it can't route international thru the lan card.
 
Hey antibody. Thanks for your great programs in the past.
Just a question maybe.
Is it possible to make this program use the router account my default uncapped account and then use a ppoe connection for just one single ip?

Reason being. I want to use the uncapped as normal for me and my roommates, but when i play my games online then i want it to use an unshaped saix account.

Think it's possible?
 
I would love something similar, if I can play World of Warcraft with my unshaped account, while streaming Capital FM or WOW Radio or something like that.

Is there a way to connect to WebAfrica unshaped SAIX just for the world of warcraft IP addresses.
 
Hi,

I tried the new version with Vista Ultimate and its not working for me.

I've got my router handling the international account and doing a bridged broadband connection for the local account.

I'm selecting the local account for local connection and the lan card for international connection.

Here is the log:
08/05/2007 01:14:03 ERROR: The operation completed successfully, (0.0.0.0,0.0.0.0,0.0.0.0,1,8) 160
08/05/2007 01:14:03 Creating routing table
08/05/2007 01:14:03 Finished creating routing table

All the traffic ends up being routed through the local connection and the international connection doesn't get used.

Hope this is working soon, as it seems like an awesome app for us South Africans.

DanH, go to your local connection's properties:

On the Networking tab select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.
Click Advanced...
On the General tab, deselect "Use default gateway on remote network"
Press OK three times

Then have another go.

I can't seem to get it to work! I've tried eremos's suggestion...doesn't seem to work...i get a conflict.

I'm using a billion 5102 router in half bridge. Which router are u guys using?
Could u guys maybe help?

Hey,

I did it as follows with a bit of help:

Set the router to half bridged mode. Have a look in the manual of your router, call the helpline or google.

(I have a marconi telkom premium combo, instruction on how to set it up here http://www.marconisa.co.za/premium_combo_software_download.htm "Bridge & Router Connection" at the bottom of the page)

This means that the router is running the one connection (you logged into 10.0.0.2 and set the router up with the one username and password) and it will still allow you to make a broadband dial up pppoe connection from vista.

To make the broadband dial up pppoe connection, you go

=> Start
=> connect to
=> Setup a connection or network
=> Connect to the internet
=> Set up a new connection anyway
=> Broadband pppoe

Then put in your username and password, remember password and name the connection.

Then you remove defaulf gateway for the dial up connection, go

=> Network Sharing Center(icon in system tray)
=> manage network connections
=> right click on dialup pppoe connection you have just made and click properties
=> Networking
=> TCP/IPv4
=> properties
=> advanced
=> "uncheck" use default gateway on remote network
=> OK
=> OK
=> OK


Then install RouteSentry v0.05 Vista beta2

Once installed,

=> Right click on the RouteSentry icon and run in administrator mode.
=> Select your local connection and select your international connection
=> Check all the boxes on the 1st page
=> Click Set up routes now


The Log should have:

Creating routing table
Finished creating routing table

with no errors

Then minimize to system tray, dont close.

For a quick check to see if its working,

=> press ctrl + alt + del
=> start task manager
=> Networking tab

There should be local area connection and the connection you have just made.
Traffic through the dial up broardband connection should be on its own while the local area connection is both local and international.
