RouteSentry for Vista (beta) - please help me test

If you look on antibody's site, there is another application on there, called DDProxy. Simply install that on your neighbors pc(s) and then follow the instructions carefully on how to set it up.
The application splits local/int via the network, and it will send the relevant traffic through the relevant accounts
However, if they play online games like BF2 etc and need to authenticate online, it wont work with DDProxy, so browsing is the only thing that will work quite nicely.
Just shout if you need any help or advice

Hey all. im thinking of installling Vista this weekend. My current setup is 2 pc connected with cable and 2 pc wireless (Mega 100WR) Do i have to install the program on all the computers, if so then i can only have 2 computers connected to the internet as my isp allows 2 concurrent connections? or does DDProxy allow all the other computer to use the main PC setting? please help me

Route Sentry has to be on every pc that you want traffic to be split on.
Concurrent connections and bridging will be a problem if you have 4 machines as most ISPs allow 2 concurrent connections, but some allow more. Not sure on DDProxy, haven't used it myself.
And I don't think the Mega 100WR can do half bridge that is needed when running Route Sentry on Vista. Anybody done it?
The wireless machines will be connecting straight to the router, cannot do PPPOE dial up on Vista wirelessly, only over cable.
Seems like you need an old pc with a wifi card running Linux to handle your adsl, or a router that can half bridge with a local account that allows 4 concurrent connections and XP on the wireless machines.
As for ISPs look at getting get a 30gig local for +-R129pm. (maybe start with a 10gig and then upgrade to a 30gig if you need too)
For the international connection get one that matches your needs.
Look at www.hellkom.co.za and look around at the new bundled deals.

For a whole network I would definitely say install IPCop on a box and route all traffic through that. There is information on how to do it somewhere in these forums, do a quick search.

You only need Route Sentry and DDProxy on the pc that connects to the ADSL modem. Then set every other machine on the network to use the Proxy Server that has been set up under DDProxy. That way you only need 1 concurrent connection to your ISPs.

Good to hear that works. But then you must get a wireless set up on the sharing pc, and that pc must be always on. eg a old pc running as a server.
(I just happen to have a old 1.7celeron running XP for grabit and file server purposes ) Will give it a try.

Hi guys
DanH, I've been following your advice on page 4. I've got a Billion 5102G router.
If I set it to half bridge, it automatically disables NAT for some reason, so the connection is useless. I've done every step by your directions and I can't get it working.
Any ideas?

NAT = Network address translation
Basically allows you to have more that one IP addy(more than one pc) on your side of the router, while to the outside there appears to be just one.
The connection you make via the bridge should work as it does not use NAT or firewall on the router.
So you having problems with the connection made on the router I take it?
Is there no traffic on this connection or do certain ports just not work?
If you disable the firewall does it work then?
Did you save and reset the router after making the changes?

I got it working thanks DanH I loaded a previous firmware version and it sorted things out
Without NAT enabled on my router, I am unable to connect to any site, irrespective of port, it's really strange, but at least it's working now.
