RSAWEB uncapped Service

An update from my end.

No problems with evening/peak data. 2x1080p Netflix streams just fine. 10MB line.

Torrents run full speed via scheduler overnight. When I needed a Windows .iso, I got full speed during the day too (though it wasn't that well seeded!)- so, NO torrent shaping/throttling seen from my side.

Some international sites are slow, but I'm not sure that'd change even if I were on a 100MB line...

One thing that DOES bother me though, is the fibre constantly disconnects. 3-4 times per week, I need to restart router or release/renew WAN via Router CP. Annoying AF. Fibre is supposed to be more stable than ADSL (where I had to reboot router once per month and port reset every three!).

Has anyone else experienced this? On Octotel, if that makes a difference...

Could you call RSAWEB and log a ticket with the support team and see what comes of that.

I haven't had that issue and neither do any of my friends whom are with RSAWEB and we are all spread out, so we don't all live in the same area - I Know that 2 of my friends who are with WebAfrica have issues, and 1 of them has an issue which sounds similar to yours - but WA just gave him a replacement router and that sorted the issue out.

Had this same issue a while back. I'm on Openserve though. Someone here suggested I change the DNS to a free one. So I did. Used Google's DNS which is 8.8.8.8

Low and behold problem seems solved. Still get the occasional need to restart the router but from once every 2-3 days to perhaps once per month is solved in my opinion.

I have 45 emails to them- they're more clueless than I am :(

I've upgraded router firmware- didn't help. I'll request a new/different router, see what comes of that. Not holding my breath...

Thanks- I've done the same.

It was 1.1.1.1...

Thinking 20 mbs for Netflix, some gaming for an 11 year old and her you tube watching and occasionally I work on outlook app at home instead of office. The uncapped option is cheaper than capped at this speed.

Netflix only needs like 5Mbps for HD (their own statement) but I do get you - you want some headroom :)
I usually say 10mbps per couple +5Mbps for each child and +10Mbps for each teenager/millennial

i removed the pppoe login(no login required) and set wan to dynamic, the problem never reoccurred

I'm in contact with them- thanks for the offer....

I'm just trying to figure out if I should feel sorry for myself as the only user with this issue or if there are others with the same story who I can learn from in trying to get this fixed.

Of the suggestions so far, none has worked :(

Any resolution to this?

I'm approaching the end of my Rain 25+25 GB and to step up to the 55 GB Rain package starts to become roughly the same price as a 10/5 Uncapped package on Octotel, so may as well switch to uncapped fibre.

Was looking at RSAWeb. Very little feedback on them overall, but what there is seems to be mostly positive.

Hi,
I had a few issues early August (RSAWEB 10/5 on Octotel @R547) with the wife complaining (she works from home). Thought it was wifi related as she works upstairs - farthest away from the Router.
Anyhow - after seeing the issues.... chose to upgrade to 100/25, and haven't had issues since. The upgrade to 100/25 took the monthly to R999. This introduced a weakness in my wifi, so have introduced ubiquiti equipment,
And no real issues since. i can do youtube on tv+3 iphones+google photo uploads+nzb, and I don't feel congestion at all. Have noticed DSTV Now on apple tv occasionally struggles, but i put that down to a DSTV problem as nothing else at that time has any issues. Best of all - no more complaints from my wife :-)
If you can cough up for the extra few 100 bucks the 100/25 is a game changer.
