Rugby: Springboks 2008 Thread

For a start, while Frans Steyn could well still be the future Bok flyhalf in that he is still only 21 years of age and has time to learn, that future is definitely not any time soon.

Steyn battled with his decision-making.
..... maybe this Gavin Rich chappie wasn't watching the same game  He seems to have a dislike for Steyn and as the weeks go by, he's showing it more and more.

The other thing the Boks would have learned from the game, other than that Steyn is not an immediate candidate to play the big test matches at flyhalf, is that Beast Mtawarira, like his Zimbabwe countryman Brian Mujati, is not yet ready for test rugby.

the man known as the Beast did not touch the ball often, and what should have been of concern was his vulnerability in his primary phase.
... again  ..... Beast was the pick of the props, so ja, different game

OK I was about to back off and let you have your little thread but really! I have never been a huge Watson fan and do not like the politics he brings with him but can you honestly tell me that he had a crap game?!?! He was brilliant. He played a huge roll in every maul.

He sucks (relatively). He is still too small, wants to argue with the ref, and is trying to be a glory boy by holding on to the ball in the maul/truck and trailer.

Hopefully that'll be the last we see of him.

Game was great to see live... Italians got their ass kicked, it was fun to watch that happen, especially when that Italian had a drop kick at the goals right infront... AND MISSED! OMG!

Italy getting their butts kicked would have been 80-0.

As to it being fun? Not sure - seeing England getting beaten 26-0 would be fun. Or Australia or New Zealand. But Italy? That should have been like a practice game because it also rains in New Zealand.

I think some of the commentators have a sideline business being agents/managers for some of the players. That's why you seem to get completely biased reporting about a player when you can quite clearly see that the opposite is happening.

Steyn was a not convincing at flyhalf imho. They try that he scored was good but he had an overlap by atleast one player if he swung the ball right.... Against the all blacks he would 10 to 1 not have scored that try.

He Kicked to much.... Swing the Focking ball when you are playing a team like Italy.

Watson wasnt terrible just not anything near good enough to face NZ or AUS...

Peter Bobo was also not great but not THE WORST we have ever seen.... Also wont hold against NZ or AUS..

Januarie was half/half (wish fourie gets better soon )

Anyway we still have no answers on prop (loose or tight head):(

But i think we actually have a good chance against NZ if we select the right team and we show a bit of guts :)

Not a good performance by the boks normal standards but I get the feeling they were not motivated enough. That should change for NZ. I think Steyn proved that he is not ready for flyhalf. When I looked at the half time stats of how he had used the ball he received I was not too impressed. We should look to play him at Fullback or wing. I know Fleck reckons he should be at first centre, but I believe you do not want to move JDV to outside centre at his late stage. There are two things that worry me, our front row, and the fact that we have not settled on a starting 15 and played them at least 2 games in a row. Heinke should be in the mix.

Just like to say i dont have a clue how the aussies will fare in the 3N.

Anyway, we'll see, new coach (thank goodness they got rid of knuckle head, knuckles) - go Deans, Go.
