I have it on fairly good authority that MTN has already negotiated a deal with Apple to become a distributor of the next iphone.

Some may have noticed that the current iPhone 3GS recently became available from MTN. Whether Vodacom will continue to source iPhones remains to be seen.

I honestly was not aware that MTN is now selling the iPhone 3GS. On what package? Cost per month?

Trying to find the pricelist. The 3GS is not listed on the website. Will post soon as I find it. The 4GS is pretty imminent though.

Yip, I'll be upgrading to the 4th gen one as soon as it arrives :)
Will just be interesting to see MTN's pricing on the current 3Gs compared to Vodacom...
Thanx man :)

mmm suppose you can purchase it cash at a apple store? if not looks like I will be going to over to MTN .....

but all iphone regardless if which carrier you get it through in SA are unlocked? so you can get it on mtn and just use it on vodacom?

Still too expensive for an 8gb iPhone 3G. Sorry MTN, we're getting the Nokia 6303 and R2900 gift voucher instead. Rather buy an iPhone from someone for cash.

Heard the apple 4g might be exclusive to MTN for a certain period....

Not saying that is impossible but I highly doubt it. Only reason Vodacom has the iPhone is due to their ties with Vodafone and I highly doubt Vodafone will let another network here have exclusivity, even if it's only for a while. But then again, you never know...

I sincerely doubt that.

Vodacom got lots of new customers with their exclusive iPhone deals (hey, I was one of them!) and I'm sure they'll fight to keep it that way.

Well I am thinking of doing a number port in November over to vodacom to get the new iphone

I currently have the iphone, got it last year january. And you are right it rocks. The only reason I'll be porting is the MMS and carrier bundle settings available to vodacom and not mtn
