S.A. Photography shops.

Koffie, as I posted above, one of the sites in the list of shops is pushing a Trojan. Won't you please remove it from the list in the first post, or perhaps just add a warning?

I broke the link (try it and see what happens) and put a notice on.

Usually when a site presents a trojan, it's because it's got compromised. More often than not, attackers manage to get an iframe into the code.

This is why you shouldn't chmod 777 your entire web directory....

I believe ANS Wholesalers are grey dealers though, cannot find their details as authorized dealers on Nikon or Canon's websites. ANy ideas?

I have a D700

MartyFX, have you considered the D700 at all? From what I read availability is drying up and Nikon is widely expected to introduce an update (which would surely include video) at/before PMA. So there should be something new pretty soon. If nothing else, the D300S price should come down a bit.

Hi Koffie. I have a D700 and a D3 but just looking at the DX Crop for when I go to the bush. I rented a D300 from Outdoor and it was pretty good (except the body condition was crap). Am lookiong at trading in my D700 and D3 for a D3s for my pro work but am still negotiating with B&H in Sandton City.

Orms

Maybe the dude at Orms thought of B&H in the US, who do sell grey (along with regular - clearly indicated).

He definitely knew I was talking about B&H in Sandton because he asked if it was New York and I told him Sandton City Johannesburg. He was very adamant that B&H in Sandton was a grey dealer. I think he probably felt threatened because he couldn't match the price. When I spoke to Nikon they assured me B&H Sandton is legit, one of their best dealers.

I'm a bit concerned with Nikon's build quality. I've looked at more than a few D300 and D700 shop demos that had the rubber surface peeling away. I understand that many hands handle these demos, but I can't imagine it's rough enough to damage high-end bodies in that way.

I'll stick to the real B&H.

I have removed www.answholesalers.co.za from the top of this thread. A month and a half after their website was compromised, it's still not fixed. I wouldn't trust a company that cares that little about their image and how they present their brand, to be too concerned about their customers.

If they get their act together, let me know and I'll add it again.

Hi, please could you add the following shop to your list:
www.DigitalCameraSale.co.za

The shop has excellent prices and has speedy delivery to anywhere in SA
Thanks

Thanks. This list is sorta kinda based on our experience buying from the listed places, so as soon as one of the established folk here reports positively, I'd be happy to.

Ok thanks. I hope you like the look and feel of the site. We’ve got many other exciting features planned for the future.

Browse our website for pricing (that should be better than most!) and/or email or call us to talk one-on-one. Hopefully we’ll be on your list soon enough.

Not trying to pee on your parade, but the very first Canon lens (55-250) on your site is R3,295 on special. It costs R3,099 at SA Camera and R3,095 at Orms. CameraWorld, a physical shop near me, sells it for R3,100. I'm interested in buying one, that's why I noticed. I haven't looked at other items on your site though.

EDIT/ after browsing some more I see it is also the only Canon lens you sell?

Thanks for the info. Have another look here: http://www.digitalcamerasale.co.za/lenses/canon
I hope that is better & our shipping fees are cheaper than others. We’re in Rondebosch (CPT) should you prefer to collect.

We’ve only got a few Canon items currently listed on the website (mostly Nikon & Pentax SLR’s listed). However if you are sold on the Canon brand, drop us an email or phone for bargin prices on Canon products.

Happy Shopping!

Looking much better! Good of you to reply.

Best of luck with your business!

Your Nikon 70-300mm f 4.5-5.6 G AF-S VR is on SALE at R5 290 while Orms has it normal price at R5 295....

I must add that your prices are pretty similar to theirs to well done and keep up the good work!!!

Glad to see someone is distributing Pentax. Their kit, the K-x in particular, are not getting anywhere near the attention it deserves.

I'll keep that in mind. Problem I have found in SA is the importer of the Olympus Brands don't give a damn about the product. I have contacted them time and time again with things and when I did get answers their pricing was plain stupid. They dont keep stock and only order things when you buy from them, in which case, buying from B&H works out quicker and cheaper
