S5 vs iPhone 6 plus

Was just about to say, just because iCloud, doesn't mean there is nothing else.

Also, as good as what the S5 is on battery use, as bad am I on battery usage. I don't think anyone will make a phone battery anytime soon where I can still load my 200 apps, have the screen on half the time, and make it to bed time. But having it look so much worse than the S5 is a bit worrying, isn't it?

Yea look I was actually looking forward to the iPhone 6 release, I think I am just a little disappointed with the device they brought out and the way they are trying to make it look as if all the android hardware they added to it is innovative.

Unfortunately therein lies the problem. As an Android user you programmed to focus on the hardware and not the software. You can't analyze the iPhone 6 without analyzing iOS 8

True. So I have asked all the iPhone users I know what they think of iOS8, after they have been really excited about it for a couple months, and now they are like "Meh". I'm sure there is more to it, but according to them, its not as life changing as they have hoped.

Read into that how you want.

So think like camera performance
Camera performance on the iPhone6/6+ is much better than the S5. The article is full of crap. See above video and read around. 16mp means you can get much more detail into a photograph, but you're suffering on optics, low-light, stability, consistency and overall image quality as a result. And as for actual CPU performance, the article firstly incorrectly stated that the S5 is 805 (it's 801), and secondly the A8 is faster than the S5's 801, even without the coprocessors - just simply faster.

durability

storage on the phone (for all your songs)
By default an S5 has 16gb and if you want more you need to pay for expandable storage. By default an iPhone has 16, 64 or 128gb and you pay for the added storage.

and how good a display looks to the naked eye, are important then?
Interestingly I've yet to see many comparisons of the screens next to each other but the 6+ screen seems excellent as does the 6's. I'm very disappointed by the comparatively low resolution on the 6, personally - it's the only downside I can see to it. It's not really acceptable and it is noticeable. However, if I stick my G2 next to my wife's 5c particularly outdoors, the 5c's screen is much punchier.

Overall the article is quite pointless and horribly biased.

I think (besides the closed system and built in limitations that cripple it) ios is awesome. Imagine what it would have been like with some serious hardware to back it up though. It barely keeps up with months old androids, in 6 months it will be lagging way to far behind yet again. Already lagging quite far on things like camera and file sharing.

The hardware in iPhones is at least the equal of any current phone at the time it's released. The 5s was the fastest phone when it released last year (from a pure CPU/GPU power aspect). 6/6+ still need fully testing out, but it's looking good so far. What other hardware could you mean?

Z2, S5, note 4 all better (to name a few). The arrogance that Apple is showing by skimping as they are reminds me of Nokia and RIM. It's sad because competition is healthy.

A8 processor makes mince meant of the 801 and holds its own with the 805, iOS is such a light weight operating system the A8 is more than surplus to its needs as is the 1gb of ram, battery increase in the plus is significant, 8MP camera with improved optics and software kicks well above its weight. Let's wait for the reviews before we write it off, 16gb, 64gb and 128gb are decent storage capacities and the 401PPI of the plus's 5.5" screen is decent (agree with cerebus, ppi on the 6 is underwhelming)... so yeah in a straight spec shootout it's going to get hammered by the top end Droids but why would Apple put in 2gb or 3gb's or ram if all they need is 1gb?? Why would they put in a 43MP camera when they can get such good results with a 8MP camera?? Not every car is built with a V12 twin turbo engine, some get great performance from a 1600 Ford Escourt engine... :p

Anyway...

I just said the A8 is faster than at least the S5. What other areas of hardware are you talking about? It has the best optics, best sound quality, one of the best displays around, fastest CPU, and is one of the thinnest phones on market for the specs. I'm struggling to see how they're 'skimping' here.

Sounds like Nokia's famous last words :(

Yeh, so apprently the camera is better than 5S's camera. Still doesn't make it better as than the S5, never mind the same camera with ois that's in the Note 4.

What the price difference between the 16, 64, and 128 for you? To get mine from 16 to 144, by buying a 128gb micro SD will be cheaper.

You should be comparing it to the S5 screen and not the LG screens, which are noticeably worse than the Samsung Super AMOLED screens.

Overall the article is quite pointless and horribly biased.

Is it biased because the iPhone lost? I thought the beginning of the article was biased towards apple tbh

Out of everything you mentioned all you can verify is sound and thickness...

Why are we bringing the Note4 into this now? It's a totally unknown quality at this point, camera wise.

S5 + expandable storage would certainly be cheaper than equivalent storage on iPhone6.

I'm just making the point that PPI can be compensated by other elements. I can't say if the S5 or iPhone6 have a better screen as I've only lightly used an S5 (I did find the G2 screen miles ahead of the S4, but S5 is much better than S4), and I've never used an iPhone6.

It's grossly biased.

It's basically the S5 camera with ois. Not totally unknown because there had already been hands-on videos of it.

I'm bringing the Note 4 into it, because the 6 plus is more the Note 4's size and it's being released almost the same time. Don't you agree?

The S5 should really be compared to the 6, and not the 6 plus.

S5 camera with ois isn't going to be enough to beat the iPhone 6 camera I suspect. The 6+ has ois.So does the G2 and a number of phones by now.

I do agree yeah so let's see here's my comparison of the stuff people care about....what do you reckon:
Camera: iPhone 6
Battery life: S5
screen: subjective but S5 is much higher ppi so S5
Thickness and weight: iPhone 6
Looks and materials: iPhone 6
Storage capacity: S5
Speed and cpu: iPhone 6
Fingerprint sensor (and other additional hardware features like heart monitor, coprocessors): iPhone 6
Durability: S5
Audio: iPhone 6
Apps: iPhone 6
UI/UX: iPhone 6
Warranty: S5
