SA Politics Thread Part 10 : The GNU Has Crashed

"Insiders in the closed meeting, which took place on Monday, said that this could mean that a Cabinet reshuffle was on the cards."

"Its NWC knows it must see through its obligations to ActionSA, but it's also concerned about burning bridges with the DA."

"Meanwhile, the blue party’s federal executive also met on Monday night, opting to adopt a wait-and-see approach despite some of its members in government already expressing a desire to call it quits on the GNU"

Hello, good morning. 🙂

Same person that previously committed to working with the private sector to address and fix the damage caused by his party.

"stimulate economic growth and job creation by addressing constraints on growth in energy, transport and logistics, and crime and corruption."

It does not look like there are any constraints on crime and corruption.

I am sure Cyril would have liked to have the DA in the GNU but the way things are now it will simply be impossible, the DA have voted against the GNU, on top of that they are going to to court to contest the passing of the budget, there is no way Cyril will be able to even begin convincing anyone of the benefit of having the DA in the GNU, there will be no guarantee that they will support any motion brought against Cyril, at the moment it's just keeping a dangerous snake in the house, feeding it and hoping it won't bite you.

So the first thing to show good faith from the DA will be to drop their court case and to vote with the GNU for the next phase of the budget allocations, that would at least imply the GNU and the DA can now sit down and talk.

Cyril's political career might just be up before the year is up...

There is no way, unless the ANC starts impeachment proceedings.

Having Paul as deputy is a bit of a catch 22 situation. It makes Cyril look like a complete moron and weak for keeping the Zuma ANC alive. It gives credibility to the Zuma faction, but it ensures no moderate party will impeach Cyril or leave the GNU.

One thing these guys are good at is covering their own ass because they are very accustomed to backstabbing if they made it that far.

But you are misinformed because Mashatile is not part of the Zuma faction, so your whole post is pretty much pointless.

Nope, lets get the wording 100% accurate here.

The DA voted against an ANC budget, not a GNU budget.
The problem child in the mix is mostly the ANC, not the DA.

But you do you and your DA bad, while enjoy being poorer while your GLM celebrates making you poorer.

One post visible for the last page - that is how much spam the kid (on my ignore list) posts. Madness.

You are seriously going to pop a vein if you keep thinking you can get rid of me here. 🤣

This is a politics thread, if you feel the politics is "spam" to you because you love the silly racist DA and hate the constant embarrassment that comes with loving it here, take a hike because you're clearly not ignoring.

"...unless the ANC starts impeachment proceedings."

That is what I meant. South Africa will see Cyril recalled by the ANC before he faces a MONC and that can happen this year seeing how on the back foot Cyril and his grouping are since the formation of the GNU.

This is going to be a very interesting year. 🍿

Just because they might not attend the same braai doesn't mean they don't believe exactly the same things. Mashatile is a Zuma, there is no doubt.

The ANC is strong on their own internal procedures. So not until they have a national conference and elect a new leader.

I'm always operating on the assumption that there are two main factions in the ANC?

There are smaller ones, but I thought there was always a left and right/moderate faction, the only variation being who leads them...
