He's no Zuma fan but he's firm believer that the ANC can be reunited by taking back the EFF and MK back. He's with the black nationalists. He's all liberating movement leader. Lesufi is the same. ANC before country. Well most of the ANC are like that

I don’t see that ever happening. EFF and MK will destroy ANC if allowed back in. And ANC know this.

It is never happening, even if both drop to 2% they will not allow themselves to be absorbed back into the ANC, they will opt for the same tactic they are using now, try to hold the ANC to ransom, that's the reason the MK is not governing KZN even with 45% vote, their number 1 priority is holding the ANC to ransom even if that comes at their own detriment.

The EFF and MK as entities as well as their leaders is not what anyone is after, even Mashatile, it is the voters that are the first prize, and it is totally possible to get those without the bargage of having Malema or Zuma back into the ANC.

Apartheid ended 30 years ago, the only people that still want to destroy apartheid today is delusional and looking for excuses to deflect from their own failures.

But the irony of accusing others of just being there for the perks of power while the DA is holding on for the same perks of power.

The only difference between the DA, and all those other parties is that the DA has a better propaganda machinery and can better justify their hunger for the perks of power.

But whoever was in Zuma's faction will now back him. Similar interests and culture of corruption. Except he's smarter so they may actually evade some scrutiny, Zuma was too brazen which attracted unwanted attention...

Not sure how they'd destroy the ANC. They'd accelerate destruction of the country yes but they'd be ANC. More infighting probably but there's always infighting in the ANC. Intellectual leadership in the ANC died with Mbeki. It's a free for all now. Zuma actively disdained intellect and education which is why the phrase clever black exists.

The ANC has been in power for 30-years.

Long past the time for the ANC to have evolved from a liberation movement to a party capable of governing and building a country, but they still think it is 1976.

Gauteng could back him, they were not in Zuma's faction.
Eastern Cape, in exchange for Mabuyane getting deputy, not part of the Zuma faction.
Limpopo, not part of Zuma faction.

The only pro Zuma faction in 2022 was KZN and they are so weak they will probably back anyone who will give them something.

But my feeling is that somebody else is going to emerge closer to the election, Mashatile will be a much weaker candidate than Cyril and everyone would be fancying their chances against him, same as everyone, including him fancied their chances against Dabede.

Nope, they are remaining (for now) because they genuinely believe in improving SA. Everyone with a brain knows that a GNU without a market friendly party like the DA will lead to worse social and economic outcomes. We can already see this in the weakening of the Rand and the like - part of it is Trump tariffs, but also part of it is uncertainty about the DA's role going forward.
