SA Politics Thread Part 10 : The GNU Has Crashed

The data is not manipulated, just incomplete.

And for the point he was trying to make, the excluded data isn't vital.

Anyone who needs a full and complete data set to know whites have it better off than the black majority in South Africa is most likely milking their apartheid privilege and don't want to see it gone.
WTF!? Really? From "this data proves something" to "trust me bro" in one breath!? Jirre ma jy"s dom! Check that first part of your nick, it'll tell you all you need to know.

The news that inflation was the lowest in almost five years in March now has consumers wondering if the inflation rate of only 2.7% will move the Reserve Bank to cut the repo rate again when its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meets next month.

The South African Reserve Bank (Sarb) has the constitutional mandate to protect the value of the rand by keeping inflation low and steady. It uses interest rates to influence the level of inflation, with National Treasury setting the inflation target in consultation with the Sarb to act as a benchmark to measure price stability.
If the Reserve Bank has the mandate to protect the Rand, how come they don't have the power to send the entire ANC to jail? Just hot air and fluffy bunnies then!

Or ANC will "magnanimously" drop the VAT increase and accept ASA/BOSA proposals to own the DA and reconfigure GNU.
I checked out of curiosity, if ANC "reconfigures" the GNU, almost all small parties will be part of the government.

Then outside of government will be ACDP, DA, and the RET bloc (MK/EFF/NCC/ATM) and UAT.

Lol. I doubt anything of value will be said...
Not true. Hermie is gonna blame the DA for raising VAT... again.

Moosi is gonna gooi a big hangaaz, wipe a tear, and promise everyone it's just a glitch in the matrix.

The ANC is just gonna do what they do best: round 3892 of pocket-the-cash.

This is all comedy gold, worth eleventy-and-two-nine-billion-four

Yes, you were impressed by people doing their jobs.
That is true. In fact, those governent officials in Gauteng should be applauded for finally doing something. It's like all of a sudden, they woke up, 6 months after being elected and decided to actually start doing something. How long that lasts though is anyone's guess.

It's more a discussion of reliability really. Neighbours meter broke at 5am this morning. It was logged at 7am and the city was there 45min later to repair.

Where as in Gauteng, you wait weeks. And then the political party comes out to make a big scene of "look, we finally fixed 1 of the 4 million broken traffic lights", then bang, nothing until next election.

Has the ANC really given up its fight to tax the poor against their will? If true, this must rank as one of its most embarrassing losses. Why take it all the way to a live streamed court case just to admit defeat before it’s even over? Surely they knew their prospects were slim.

Even @TheChamp could come up with better political strategies than this. I’m not complaining though. All the DA has to do is stick to its principles while the ANC literally implodes. Glorious to watch

They can't backtrack. They'll have to introduce a new bill to be voted on, which is what I suspect they'll try to do. Then see if the DA votes for it. That's probably their great plan to try and corner the DA.

All of this might be futile anyway, because the court still has to rule on whether the two votes were legal in the first place...

I suspect the court judgement is going to go against them. The grilling of the gov advocates was quite intense esp regarding executive overreach.
I suspect they know it and are trying to save themselves

VAT increase apparently being withdrawn by Min of finance
Can't be
If you listened to the court case it has to be done via parliament.
The gov attorney's were ripped apart with what happened.
Going to be interesting to read the judgement to see if my understanding is correct
