Firstly, having 1 million members doesn't necessarily translate to 1 million votes, the ANC at its strongest had just over a million members yet they got over 10 million votes, even now with it's numbers having gone down, they still got over 6 million votes, it simply implies at your worst you are more likely to at the very least get votes more or less equal to your members, so keeping this number up is what everyone strives for.

Members are like ambassadors for your brand, the more you have of those, the most likely it that people will buy into your brand. Members are more likely to recruit others to join, it's not a complicated concept.

The reason the EFF is so resilient is because of strong membership.

Has ActionSA had a press conference to announce their membership, no idea.

I think you have fallen into a common statistical mistake of assuming correlation equals causation. Political parties increase their membership when they are perceived to be growing, their policies are popular and people believe in them. This usually happens when they start winning elections and become prominent in the media. They don’t grow their membership then start winning elections.

I cannot agree with you here. This is not only going to be applicable to R20mill houses, but also R2mill homes, which is decidedly middle class in many areas in WC. Those who pay will keep getting squeezed a bit more every year, frogboiling happening in front of your eyes.

The facts are that there is an ever-increasing number of non-payers that cannot be brought into the paying fold. Simply recuperating from those that are in the fold, is simply not sustainable. This is how a province, a country, an economy and ultimately a country collapses: when the sustainability fails. We have been going down this path for a long time now, and the fact that all of the other provinces have imploded for this very reason, is an irrefutable fact.

2 mill sure is middle class, but not 20 mill.

Geordin also clearly makes the distinction between them and "ordinary family households" which are most likely the middle/working class.

I believe in progressive taxation. If you're a billionaire/upper-class-man, you should pay your fair proportion of taxes, etc, just like everyone else has to.

It doesn't make sense to me that a billionaire has to pay the same as a middle-class man or a working-class person, while those same rates hit the latter two groups a lot harder than that same rate hits the former...
