The only difference is Ramaphosa fcks you with a smile on his face, which manipulates you into defending him. Paul is straight to the point, he's going in dry and you're going to take it. For some reason everyone thinks the first option is better...

I'm no fan of Ramaphosa and his indecisions. He's ANC through and through. Just pointing out removing him wont be an improvement. But it would at least remove the illusion.

I dont disagree. Voters are showing them that too. Sadly people are going to all those populist RET parties and the moderates are useless and most ANC-like but in suits.

Its normal human behaviour to vote the loonies when times are tough, its actually surprising those parties dont have more votes given our poverty levels. I dont think all the moderates are useless either, the problem is people look for some mystical perfect party that doesnt exist. We just need to start with "better than the ANC" which shouldnt be too hard and then we can progress from there.

If you look at the top ten parties and exclude EFF and MK i think they are all just about better than the ANC.

Yeah - it is also a problem that it is in Malema's home town - basically a two-way race between the EFF and ANC. There are probably better areas for the SACP to be electorally successful.

Tbh, Rama's second term has all but confirmed they are completely unsalvageable as a whole.

Just like NP fell apart when De Klerk quit, ANC will too once Ramaphosa goes (regardless of how he does go).

So long as his motives are to clean up the Police force (or at least of those not in his faction) and not to try lead a "coup", I would think using him as a figurehead would be a mistake if they were to go down that road.

He would be expected to stamp on another round of July style riots much harder than happened originally.

I'd be uncomfortable with that. Getting coup vibes.

This whole thing is uneasy. On the one hand I want to support the guy, on the other I don't want this turning into another African dictatorship.

When you start doing something in the name of a person, rather than on principle, it becomes a slippery slope...

That's my worry. Because once a coup attempt succeeds in a country, there will always be more sometime around...

So my hope is, his loyalty is to the Republic and the Constitution... And not Zuma or a desire to be a strongman dictator...

Yeah we don't even know if we can trust this guy, there have been rumours that he has been under investigation prior to his announcement.
