SA Politics Thread Part 11: The GNU Normal

There's also a difference in opinion between DA ministers and ordinary DA MPs in terms of the staying in the GNU and there are far more of the latter.
How's the split? Because you make it sound like the ministers are pro-GNU and all the MPs are anti-GNU.
However, having read Tony Leon's latest book, it's clear the DA's participation in the GNU will only be broken if DA donors don't want it to continue.
I think it'll only be broken if it truly becomes untenable for them...

I don't think it is a good idea for JS to run for a third term.

Who would be the likely replacement?
Either GHL, Pappas or maybe a dark horse in Brink.

Regarding the FedEx chair, I'm not sure if Gogo is going to run for the FedEx chair again, seeing that she said the JHB mayor thing is her last roll of the dice.

If Gogo doesn't run, I'd hedge for the FedEx chair, Gwarube.

Sorry Ronnie, nobody needs to fall in step with the NewNP/GLM and their retardedness.

Welcome to the world of no longer being in control.
“These are complex issues. All South Africans should speak with one voice in the national interest - whether in opposition, in the GNU, in government, outside government, NGOs or in business,” Lamola said.
Of course, the implication is the "one voice" being the ANC's voice. When will these okes accept they don't have a majority anymore? It's been a year.

Gwarube? I would vote for the DA if that were to happen.

It will be one of the DA seniors, Moriarty, Winde or Rogers. If they were to want a woman it would be someone like Bridgette Masango or the current deputy speaker.

But I still doubt Zille is going anywhere.

What is it with these 'journalists' ? I think it's a stretch to say they are being paid by the ANC (either directly or indirectly) but what entices them to always take the ANC stance on this? Job security? Access to ministers?
Max is not wrong. Their agitation is what has driven the Trump fake news **** and resultant hostility.

He is, if you read the whole thread, he falls apart at the slightest questioning by Michael (non-aligned analyst guy).

No, not paid. Loyalty and ideological capture.

The older ones, especially. Du Preez, Haffajee, and Grootes have all been cadres themselves at some point in the early years of democracy and struggle. The newer ones are more ideologically aligned but with less history than the old ones.

If you put those together, and look at the SABC, eNCA (partly union-owned), it isn't much of a shock to see the "unbiased" and "impartial" pro-ANC or pro-ANC-policy-realm bias in the media...

It would have helped the country tremendously to have some kind of media that could pull the balance back to center. Closest we have in the media space would be, what... Politicsweb?

Well, until such time, we'll just have to settle for Pietertjie with ANC love-juice running down his chin, flipping printouts on national tv, making a fool of himself. Eish....

Most are heavily left-wing and openly supported the ANC's destructive policies since inception up until very recently. They all have egg on their faces now and have too much ego and bravado to admit they and the policies they supported are horribly wrong (this is a classic left-wing trait). They therefore try and deflect (DA, Afriforum) to take the heat off their own conscious that their entire world view is just plain wrong.
