Where do you track the parcels? Track and Trace?

Mine says:

Based on information obtained by the retailer, the item was then moved to Bloemfontein where it is bogged down. But that is the tracking information I have.

It's weird trying to explain to someone overseas that the postal service of an entire country is basically non-existent. This **** needs to be sorted out asap.

Did you mention in which continent you reside?

The rand/dollar/pound exchange rate doesn't help either - the cost of getting something sent via private courier is ridiculously high right now. Basically it's impossible to order anything from abroad.

Hello

We regret to have received confirmation that another illegal post office strike is likely to impact on post countrywide. We have therefore decided to rather hold back posting your parcel to you.

We would like to offer you the following options:

option 1: We can keep the parcel on our premises until we receive confirmation that the post office is back to normal operations.

Option 2: We can deliver the parcel via Fedex door-to-door delivery to your physical address (during office hours). This usually takes 1-3 days from dispatch. Should your order cost be over R250.00 we would be able to do so free of charge. Should your order total be less than R250.00 please do let us know if you would like us to quote for courier delivery, and we will do so promptly.

Kindly confirm if you would like us to arrange the Fedex door-to-door delivery and please provide us with a full physical address. Someone will need to be at this address during office hours and be prepared to accept and sign for the parcel. We will also need the contact person's name and phone number. Please also provide a company name (if applicable).

Please accept our sincere apologies for any affect this has on the timely delivery of your parcel. We appreciate your understanding and patience with us during this period.

My Parcel is worth R238.00 :|. Our postal service sucks.
Fedex it is..

Hi guys hope someone can help me. Waiting for a parcel from oversees. For the last 12 days is stuck in transit at the JHB Int Mail Center. I got the oversees tracking number, but not the SA one. Is there a way to find what local tracking number is, if i got the international one. Thanks in advance.

Giving you cape town because they're much more efficient & helpful:

Capemail Foreign Parcels
021 590 5712/3

Else 0860 111 502

They should be able to give you a local number if it's been processed. There is a strike right now so you probably gonna be waiting for a while.

Thanks Saor for the prompt reply. Can i use Capemail phone number even, that my parcel is in JHB?
Will give both a try tomorrow. Thanks again.

Yeah it's all one system. When I've had parcels stuck in JHB I've always called the CPT number to get my local tracking info. You might just need to call a few times because the phones can just ring and ring. If for whatever reason you don't get through you can try that 0860 number but I've never had any luck with it.

Thanks man, i really appreciate it. As always will be a fun to deal with the local mongrel parasites. Unfortunately I did not have an option as the seller was using only EMS, otherwise i'm trying to avoid them as STD whore. Have a great day.

EMS is usually the best option. Excluding this strike. They're usually almost as fast as the more expensive couriers, charge less for customs brokerage (nothing) and the shipping is cheaper. Insurance is 100% based on 2% of the value of the goods or so, and for cheaper stuff insurance is included in the price. This is the first strike which has affected me in all the years of buying online in foreign sites and shipping stuff via the postal service.

In transit 2014/09/23 13:20 CAPEMAIL (HUB)

My USPS Priority Mail item is now in transit which means it's on the way to the local post office. I have some EMS items which will be shipped out in Japan in early October, the company only does EMS and in typical Japanese business way don't negotiate with customers, so we'll see how fast that goes.

It's not to going to move from there, my item has been in transit from a hub for over five weeks.

I also have an international parcel stuck at processing. Its been sitting there for almost 2 weeks. Strikes are really taking this country backwards as it seems to be every single year, for every single department regardless of how much of an increase they got the year before. Its mind boggling.

I've tried to look for some recent development news, but there doesn't seem to be any. Are any board members close to the situation that could give us some insights on this one?

When actors on some lousy soapie on SABC protest the government intervenes. But when the Post Office strikes nothing is done.

//set your priorities right
