SA Post Office Strike

some parcels posted during the strike WILL NOT TRACK AT ALL.

Fair warning... call your post office and make them look for it as it can be returned.

I think my pedigree puppy I shipped in from Germany before the strike is also in Transit...... hope he is ok

You mean your grown ass dog? because that is what you are going to get... really you did not try and find out where it was and try and collect it in person?

Got my parcel from the Rivonia post office this afternoon. It was there for close to a month since the post office was closed.

Shocked to see a parcel that was posted last week from Cape Town is ready for collection in Johannesburg already :wtf:

anybody been to the JIMC -- have a parcel waiting there since the 17th of October...can i collect it?

I was there yesterday. First off phone to get the local tracking number and shelve number. They won't let you in but the security guy was kind enough to take my details and get the sorters to find the package. Unfortunately my package is missing so I wasn't successful in getting mine. They did turn people away so have as much info as you can, like the person at Jimc that helped you. Try and get an sms from them saying your package is there and you can pick it up.

Luckily UNISA made a special arrangement with SAPO so I got all my stuff.

Still nothing in our Joburg Post Box, but we got our renewal notice for our Durban box.

There is no way im renewing, does postnet offer boxes?

They do have boxes but not sure how it works. The post office have a legal monopoly on delivering letters/mail so not sure to what extent you can get around them. I would love to know too, my renewal is up in 2 months time.

SAPO BOARD RESIGNS

The SA Post Office's (Sapo) board has resigned with immediate effect, Telecommunications and Postal Minister Siyabonga Cwele said on Friday.

The board volunteered to resign to allow Cwele to implement an intervention aimed at resolving issues at Sapo following a violent, unprotected four-month-long strike, the ministry said in a statement.

Their resignations were accepted.

"This intervention forms part of a suite of targeted activities government is implementing to help troubled state-owned companies to deliver the services they are mandated to," Cwele said in the statement.

He and Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene would work on the clean-up operations at the Sapo.

They appointed former Rand Water CEO Simo Lushaba to lead a team to restore order. The team had three months to turn things around and ensure workers reported for duty.

It had to assess management capacity and fill all vacant positions, prevent further financial losses and develop a business case to underpin Treasury support, resolve leadership instability, and finalise the cases against the suspended CEO and other executives.

Lushaba's team had to meet clients to discuss their needs and restore public and business confidence in the post office.

"The unprotected and violent strike at the post office has caused a lot of harm to many citizens, long-distance students, businesses --especially the small and medium-sized ones -- the diplomatic community and most of all the workers of the post office and the company itself," Cwele said.

Still waiting for 5 items, including a phone, modem and LED lights.

Worth about R5500.

Not sure that I will see any of this.
