SA Post Office Strike

A parcel I ordered yesterday has already arrived in Cape Town EMS but the ones in Oct not, so annoying, not sure if I should claim on them or if they will pitch up.

Probably LIFO.

The first parcels are buried too deep.

Nope, I had a camera stolen during a previous strike, did all the paperwork, did not get one cent back from EMS.

What do you mean from EMS? The sender has to make the claim. Did you send the item? Did you follow it up with the sender?
Also EMS is the name of the standardised service, the sender makes the case against his or her postal carrier.

The item disappeared in JIMC, it was scanned in and then disappeared. Their auditors confirmed this.

I filled in the claim forms agains SAPO EMS, they have special forms for this, but they just ignored it.

That's strange. The sender usually has to file claims. The sender is the customer.

Maybe that is why they ignored me.

But they did have claims forms, and that was the course of action recommended by the auditors.

I still sometimes use EMS, but only for small items, I don't trust them.

I have been mainly using UPS since that incident.

I love the fact that we are seeing some movements at SAPO (not on my own parcel as yet.) But it gives us some hope that things are returning to normal, and we'll be seeing some more movements soon.

Oh definitely. It's a positive development for sure.

You have to follow it up all the time. Took me a year (not joking) to get R700 back for an old PC that went missing.

To me it's just sad that now one has to "gamble" when one order your goods from overseas.

One cannot just go and order R2000 or R3000 or more worth of goods. Because the chances are it will get lost if it goes via SAPO/EMS.

Specially the smaller parcels gets lost quicker (or at least much easier).

I hope things gets sorted out quickly... i really do.

Will never happen IMHO. The damage was done it will only spiral further downwards. Before the backlog is done there will be a new strike "season" when the feckers feel like another working holiday.

I had a 20kg box sent from East London to Norway via Speed Services, not sure if they use SAPO depots or if DHL does everything privately.

It took 5 days to get from EL to my home town above the arctic circle (iow very remote)...I was genuinely surprised, especially during the whole strike.

So my guess is either pack something in a big box that cant be forgotten on a floor between other letters ... or use private companies.

Once its on the airport is green robot all the way. To get it to the airport via SAPO is the biggest problem.

So you are a Viking? :D
