SA Post Office Strike

What's the deal with international at the moment? I have not problem with domestic parcels (sending and receiving) but I am still waiting for international parcels I order in November.
 
Flippit! What's the story? I though the strike was over. Mine is from the UK and Asia, can't believe it is taking so long.

I cant believe I got my parcel, I had already resigned to the fact that R8000 poof gone.:cry:
Today my wife goes why don't you check and I go meh, fine and there it is scanned at JIMC on the 19/1 - shipped 28/8 - 5 WHOLE DAMN MONTHS.
I call SAPO just to check and they said its at JIMC but no collections, and I went fine and told my wife thats it at the airport ready for collection, and yay, she is on the way home, she says box looks ok.:D

Some of my international parcels started trickling in. A couple I had given up on (over 4 months since they were first shipped out).
Holding thumbs the others might turn up soon as well.

I would like to order an item from Loot.co.za and they offer free express post office counter delivery.
I will pay extra for a courier if speed services is an issue.

Local delivery, speed services and ordinary, doesn't appear to have any delays atm.

I went for a courier option anyway.
As it is I'm waiting for 3 parcels to arrive so I really didn't want to add another one to the list.
 
I'm becoming increasingly fed up with this useless country we live in.
SAPO have no idea where my parcels are.
That's all the info I have.

Got my Taiwanese EMS item delivered today.

Left Taiwan: 8 January Cathay Pacific Flight CX451 (for Tokyo)
Arrival in SA: 21 January (entered SA and sat in JHB for 7 days)
Delivery to door: 29 January (same day as arrival in Cape Town)

It seems EMS stuff for JHB from TW is re-routed through Tokyo.
 
I ordered some stuff from Switzerland on 6 jan15. The supplier uses Swiss post. I assume this will come via ems.

Based on reading this thread, I should expect to see it by Christmas time.

It will only come by EMS if he sent it via EMS. EMS is a particular service of IPU which most post offices provide. It could come as standard registered airmail. One has to select it when sending. The branding is then EMS branding with a smaller local postal service logo.

Aaah okay. Learning about this.
So if they used Swiss post and not ems , then should I have given my post box address or street address to the supplier for shipping address?
The supplier didn't specify, so I gave my street address.

EMS delivery to post box depends on the country.
Some do, others don't.

It's not a proper courier service, it's just a very economical and high priority postal service.
 
Ok so after 2 months I see this activity on my parcel from Singapore .

Could anybody help out here.
Do I need to go to JIMC or do I need to wait for them to send it to the post office.
I know there will be some custom fee to be paid.

I received a letter from Hong Kong mailed the start of November on Friday so I can only hope my items from the US are arriving soon.
