OMG. I pity you man.

I remember when I got our first internet - 2GB data per month from Vodacom. Had spreadsheets and stuff to calculate usage and how much we can still use, since the data usage on their side was seriously delayed. :D

When I moved to the 10GB + 10GB from 8ta, it was like heaven, but within a few weeks that wasn't enough either. :p

The Question were included with the ISP of the year survey. I was wondering why it was sneaked in with the rest of the adsl related questions. So there you go.

All/most of us who use Hulu, Netflix in ZA don't consider it piracy, even if it is still a grey channel to get it :-)

i myself prefer streaming video rather than having to download a copy first, which may be crap quality or not even what was expected.
we usually watch stuff once only, no need to keep a copy... if somehow need to watch again, just stream again.
but i guess it depends on each person's line speed/quality and available bandwidth.

i guess it can be useful to line up several movies to download during the night, to have ready for viewing another time, then no buffering or internet availability to worry about when its time to sit and watch.
but that requires more forward planning than me and my family members have :D
 
I think that you will find the vast majority of people from teens to maybe mid thirty's with an internet connection will pirate... Doubt those results are exclusive to this forum...

I do find it interesting though that 28% sub to streaming services, thought that is quite a high percentage seeing how new the streaming services are in SA and considering the fact that Netflix and Hulu are not readily available in SA and requires alternate workarounds...
 
What's the number of people with a DSTV Premium subscription who still download content off the interwebs?

Out of a sample of 1 (me), 100% :o

If the survey covers people who know about technology, then the numbers are not surprising.

I think many people in South Africa do have poor internet speeds and by necessity have to plan ahead. Many I'm sure would prefer the ease of being able to decide at the last minute what to watch.
