I wouldn't say "illegal". But it's against their terms of service as the content is not licensed for SA. It's not so much about who is viewing it, as much as where its being viewed.

What a absolute joke, I'd rather still pirate, much easier than figuring out copyright laws.
 
And in other news, for every pirating techie, there are 10 non-techies copying the same content from them with a usb stick...

The terms and conditions from Hulu and Netflix prohibit South Africans from using it. That you have to use UnoTelly or a VPN to access it should suggest to you that they don't want you using it.

It's like buying your Oxycodin from the Darknet instead of getting a doctor prescription. The Doctor doesn't want to you have it, but you get access using a 3rd party.

True, but the laws mean very little these days,
Piracy is rampant, every street corner has guys selling dvd's and every fleamarket has thousands of guys selling series,games and the like.

Its even happening with other goods nowadays, shoes,bags, clothing cellphones
Everything can and is being pirated,

Everytime they bust them its a tiny amount confiscated vs the avalanche that they sell.

I think there wasting their time trying to enforce these anti piracy laws,
Nothing they try honestly works, unless they sell you movies inside a sealed DVD player with a television superglued on...

There is a thing that works. Make the original content readily available, with shortened release cycles at a reasonable cost.

Sure you can never remove piracy completely. But you can Damn well minimize it.

Yeah, which is why I always laugh when people are up in arms with rapists and criminals going free due to a technicality. These are the same people who bribe with R100 when stopped for speeding.

People today just care about themselves, and you can see it in the society around us.
 
Bottom line is at the current state of our country & the many many "challengers" we are facing; people should not gives 2 ****s about piracy...there really are bigger matters at play.

As hard-ass as it sounds.

Not giving a **** about things is what got this country into this position in the first place. But hey who cares, we can braai every day.

Not all crimes are equal.

Rape obviously is severely worse than piracy, I don't care how much money the rights holder "lost".

Stealing and rape are both bad mmmkay.

Whichever is considered worst depends on the person getting raped or stolen from.
