Saying one must leave SA because of 20,000 murders per year might as well be upscaled by saying one must leave earth because of 200,000 murders per year.
Saying that places with a 1< per week murder rate shouldn't be considered over SA's 385 Per week average, is like letting your kid play on the N3 in rush hour as apposed to your driveway at home.
Stupid and irresponsible.
Stating that the "place" you mention (the "driveway") has a murder rate of 1< per week, means there is the chance that a speeding car will lose it around the corner and ram into your child as he plays on the driveway.
Would that be a chance you are willing to take?
Let's put it differently. I have a revolver with 2000 slots, and place 1 bullet in it. You have a revolver with 200000 slots, and place 1 bullet in. My revolver is SA. Your revolver is NZ. I point mine at my kid's head, and you point yours at your kid's head.
Would you be willing to pull the trigger?
Now, instead of pulling triggers, we move the child so that he stands out of the shooting direction (i.e. move to the Cape), or we place a thick metal plate between the gun and his head (high walls, electric fencing, proper gates).
Now isn't that much better, than pulling triggers?
Starting to get my point?
Your analogy fails since pulling the trigger is your choice. But let's use your analogy again and let's say that you HAVE to pull the trigger. Which gun would you use? Of course the one with the least chance of killing your child.
To live somewhere is not a choice. Everyone needs to live somewhere. So why not live where it's the safest?
Fine. So extending your argument, why not live in the middle of Siberia where there are no other people? The gun would have e.g. 2000000000 slots then.
I am going somewhere with this. Play along nicely, and I'll show you.
Moving to Siberia might remove the threat of the gun, but it introduces other problems. Now you don't worry about the gun any more, but you do worry about the rocket launcher that fires ice rockets.

And you don't think this becomes a problem for many (if not most) South Africans that have grown up to love the outdoor life & sunshine?London is an awesome city, so much more personal than south african cities. There are always people walking around unlike in SA where everybody drives. There are so many places to go out like pubs, restuarants, clubs and everything else. The weather is a bit crappy but you're indoors most of the time so whats the big deal.
Your point is moot.
I'm not the one pulling the trigger, if location a (Capetown) has 1000 shooters and Location b (Auckland) has 1 then I'm putting child where there less bullets flying around.
Good that they were solved, unfortunately this doesn't bring the murdered people back to life.Auckland and Manukau city 9 whole murders (all solved)
Irrelevant. This would not bring the murdered people back to life. How many in Cape town? How many were solved?
What do you need from Cape TOwn CBD that you cannot get elsewhere?Sides Capetown CBD has a tick infection.

But in the middle of Siberia there are no crime (and literally no people). Wouldn't your child have a smaller chance of being shot than in Auckland?

Oh noes! Skinner has dragged me into his Troll Cave. Must.... escape....
But it should not happen in the first place that there is a murder, even if it is 6 per year in Auckland.Solving murders helps bring closure to the victims family.
Yes, and they all know that they still have a chance of getting killed, since every year there are murders. It also reassures other people who live in the area that there really is a working criminal justice system.
Don't live in the city, then.Edit: After reading your other posts, I can't believe you don't get why it matters. So to simplify it: UNSOLVED MURDERS = MURDERERS LOOSE IN MAH CITIES = MORE MURDERS COMING SOON = RUN CHILDREN, RUN!
Yes, at astro-mega-nomical living costs at the arse end of the world.Auckland has lower crime and better quality of life than Capetown.
Yes but it doesn't stop those that are about to become criminals for the first time and commit their first murder.d'oh stops them from doing it again doesn't it.
Last time I walked through the streets of Cape Town, and nothing happened to me. Neither to anyone else I know that worked with me in Cape Town. I am still here, alive and well. I didn't see any knife- or AK47-wielding crazy murderer, shrieking wild, jumping out from behind dustbins and shooting random people, ripping their guts out and eating them while running in a circle.Murders run loose on the streets of Capetown. Relevant to many of us.
And the tick infection has what exactly to do with this...?My tax money back.
