SAIX SUCKS!!!

terrible for me today as well in Joburg. I have switched over to Vodacom 3G.

I tried it. It flies! Maybe it is area/location related issues.

Try using the saix dsl proxy - it's working great for me... what that says is that they run it over a different intl gateway and they leave the broken one for us. The proxy has sorted my issues although I'll likely turn it off later.

FF users, try foxyproxy for ease of use...

The SAIX smtp server has been very erratic this week.
Worse this afternoon - struggling to send mail.

slow browsing !!!!, slow browsing i have east london is also slow

wish they would fix the DNS server so i can play world of warcraft on 250 ping :P instead of 700 and reimburse us for half the month of slow internet

International bandwidth seems to have ground to a halt or is being routed via Saturn. Many MWeb customers are being advised to use the following proxy setting to get around this:
Code:
dsl-cache.saix.net:8080
Guess it would work for SAIX too ...

Slow here too.... Almost no international access (and i have only used 500MB of my 5GB account so I know I'm not capped). Its only been like this since this morning... me thinks something broken at Telkom.

Yeah, there are many (international) news reports about it, as well as threads on these forums.

dsl-cache.saix.net (192.168.1.254) seems to be based in Gauteng. This works fine, but in Cape Town cache.saix.net (196.25.255.3) seems to be faster (8ms vs 28ms).

Fiddling with these settings can have unintended consequences, but hanging all the time is not fun...

using cache.saix.net makes it way worse and i'm in pmburg

but anyway seems all their proxies are broken now they all giving high latency and low speed like 384k dsl

How come I get a different address (below) from a ping compared to "nslookup", which gives 192.168.1.254?

Code:
$ ping dsl-cache.saix.net
PING ndf-cache1-vif0.saix.net (196.43.9.21) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from ndf-cache1-vif0.saix.net (196.43.9.21): ... time=32.4 ms

64 bytes from ndf-cache1-vif0.saix.net (196.43.9.21): ... time=25.6 ms
Are those times slow?

My whole newsnetfeed has gone ... thanks ... telkom. Telkom logic, SA stops at midnight ...
