I have a SAIX home account - (100GB unshaped 4mb dsl) + US iTunes. I also have a VPN account with Strong VPN www.strongvpn.com (I purchased their Delux PPTP package for $155.00 / yr

This afternoon during the Sharks game and that heavy downpour I downloaded from US iTunes a 2.3GB movie via my ISP / SAIX account using an SA IP address. The download took around 60 mins - which is slow given that in the past I have downloaded movies from iTunes far quicker.

I stupidly tried to remove the movie DRM working on the original instead of a duplicate making a complete hash of it. My fault.... enough said.

So I went back to (US) iTunes and downloaded the movie again but this time I connected to iTunes via VPN. The connection through Stongvpn.com was via server in New York.

I am sure this is old news to most of you but for the newbies out there like me - the results were astounding. That very same movie was downloaded to my iMac here in Durban in under 15 minutes!

I was not present whilst the download took place thinking it would be hour or so.

PS: Another point worth noting for the newbies out there is I have often been asked if having a US iTunes account is legal in SAF or Apple could block you etc, etc. Whatever you might have heard know that having a VPN account rubbishes all that loose talk., forever.

I also wanna live the American dream of sitting on my sofa, shifting through iTunes, select Zombieland HD 2.92gig, buy it, download and start watching after 30sec. but i can't because iTunes don't sell music or music in SA, according to what i read on this forum Uncapped or Capped internet not stable or reliable, i want everything in digital format so will need a big Cap and fast line from my ISP = heavy price tag, is Torrents like Peer 2 Peer, its either 720p HD or 1080p HD or nothing at all, can you explain to me more in 'newbie' term from the 1st step say i wanna buy a movie from Itunes US to when i start watching if you don't mind please

Think its safe to do a RAS by now?

i saw in an earlier post from CTaztec he's paying Telkom R2000 per month just for the 100gig cap., by the way where is he hiding, i need answers to my post above!

You are either a liar or you have defied the laws of physics based on the information you provided.

Let me prove this.

File size: 2.3GB
Line speed: 4Mb/s
ATM+TCP/IP Overhead: 13% (4Mb/s-13%=3.48Mb/s)

So at 87% efficiency your 4Mb/s line can download 2.3GB in 1hr25min which makes your initial claim of 60min BS.

Now you say things are even faster via VPN but a VPN adds even more overhead which means things will be even slower so your claim of under 15min is UTTER BS!

A 10Mb/s link will take about 33min to download a 2.3GB file.
A 25Mb/s link will take just under 15min to download a 2.3GB file.

And I'm not even taking into consideration VPN overhead here which would make the figures even worse.

The math does not lie. Care to elaborate on your other thread where you claim you are not a spammer (besides being a liar)?

Piece of lowlife lying scum....

And then, using my VPN, I connected my modem at 56kbps and downloaded the entire interwebs in 1 minute!
