If the Vodacom internet APN settings still have a proxy server in it, delete it and save the APN.

Then see if you can access the video hub & give some feedback.

Just checked my settings, there's no proxy server set. Vodacom messed up when they branded their phones, unbranded phones don't have this issue.

Damn, that sucks.

Telkom Mobile gave me a XFA Samsung phone, which means their phones are the unbranded versions.

Have my note 3 LTE for about 3 weeks now. Does anyone have issues with reception ? My S2 had better reception with this phone. If I get 2 bars it's a lot. If I get 3g I am lucky ? This does not make sense at all. Googled the issue and lots of people overseas has the same issue, which was fixed with a firware update. Unfortunately we have to wait for our ISP to push out the update. FFS and this is suppose to be the flagship phone! :(

I also have the LTE N9005, and no issues with reception - to qualify this I put my S3 and NOTE 3 LTE next to each other, both having a Cell C SIM inside. I used the "open signal" app on both (great app btw). Both phones showed identical signal strength of -78 dBm.

Don't rely too much on your bar meter, it is just a rough guide. Rather check to see the strength in - dBm, the lower the number the better

Next, I will put a Cell C SIM into my iPhone 4, and see what the receive sensitivity and signal strength on that phone is, compared to the S3 and Note 3

BTW On my iPhone, I get much better signals when I switch off 3G. Forcing it to use 3G makes it lock onto a 3G tower. In most cases the 3G towers are spread more thinly, and thus further away than a normal 2G one. I have just tried my iPhone with MTN SIM, I get -110 dBm when 3G is switched on, and -71 dBm with 3G switched off

I just switched off my HSPA on my Note 3 LTE, and forced it to used EDGE. I am getting identical signal strengths on both HSPA and EDGE - 71 dBm. So I suppose my local Cell C tower is equipped with both HSPA and EDGE transmitters ?

This is not the case with MTN in my area, on EDGE it is way stronger than 3G, telling me that the local MTN tower is only equipped with EDGE, and my phone has to connect to a distant MTN tower to get a 3G signal.

Where in CT are you having issues? Is your sim card provisioned for LTE? I had issues with mine when it was on the Network mode [LTE/WCDMA/GSM (autoconnect)] but its been resolved since my sim got provisioned for LTE. Maybe its the placebo effect.

Pinelands and Wynberg mainly

I have an LTE SIM, and it is on the correct network settings (MtN). Situated in Bellville/Durbanville most of the times. I do get 4G/LTE when in Edward street, but never more than 2 bars on reception.

Kaibits Networks Signal shows me 8/10 bars -85 dbm and 13 ASU
Like I said though apprently the new Firmware update resolves the issue, but it could be months before we see it.

I mentioned this a few weeks back, but has anyone gotten the TeamViewer Quick Support -QS (v7/v8) app to work? I get a black screen on my machine when connecting to the phone. Want the ability to remote into my Note from the PC!

Currently using Winblows 8.1.

It won't work! As there is no exposed framework on the current Android, but if you can get your hands on Kit kat which will have Exposed Framework as standard.

Or just flash with firmware that includes Exposed Firmware...

I've got it working on my Note 2 (with 4.3 on) perfectly. Can't see why it shouldn't work for you. Did you install all the addons it asked for? And are you sure you don't have some security app blocking it?

As I was typing my previous post I got a 217mb update

Will force 4G and update quickly

I'm on mtn in cpt, and only experiencing signal issues on the m3 (from muizemberg to wynberg (by the hills)).

On a side note, I have a 64bit sim card that I've cutted into a micro sim, and surprisingly it picks up 4G/LTE, so quite happy with that since mtn says you need a 128bit sim to get LTE

yes ,also busy downloading update( 217 mb) ,
Vodacom brand n9005 lte ,let see whats changed or fixed ?

Well it's about time, let's see if it fixes any of the issues I'm having.

Edit: The only difference I noted after the update is a new Build Number, and Vodacom being kind enough to reinstall their crap which I uninstalled earlier.

Guys I need some help please.

I want to get a Note 3 LTE, but the only places I'm finding supplying the N9005 is Vodacom and MTN
I would have preferred getting a clean unlocked phone, as I know Vodacom loads alot of crap on their phones, which causes alot of issues as some guys expeienced here, now my question is does MTN also load their own firmware and stuff on it?

Anyone can maybe help me in the right direction pls?

Mine is with mtn, and there isn't any mtn stuff that came with as far as I'm aware. Although it does come with lots of samsung apps, some that you cannot uninstall too.

The only mtn stuff i see is this "MTN Menu" item that takes you to "MTNLoaded, MobileMoney, Banking, MTN Services, Updates" page. Otherwise its pretty stock phone, i.e. No MTN special boot-up logo, wallpapers, etc.
