What can you do with this thing? And how long is the battery life?

Sour grapes
It goes like this, man! When you get the Gear 2.0, they'll have already started with Gear 3.0.
No time like the present!
Yep, whatsapp, bbm, you name it.
I installed my favourite email client (K-9). Supports that also now.
Basically any app you have on your phone

And what kind of notification does it give you? Can you see who sent you a message and what it says? On WhatsApp for example...
Yeah got the update for phone and gear last week. Update for gear is awesome, don't need to use 3rd party notification app.
And yes......can see who sent message and read message. Have option to view on device and it automatically opens message on phone once you hit that button
Grrrrrrr. That is precisely what I wanted. :/
Can you get the Gear from VC on its own without having to spend a ridiculous amount to buy it cash?

Not sure. But yeah its getting better as time goes on.
Thinking about rooting it and then becomes even more functional.
/grumble.
I'm not shelling out 3k for it. But I would've added it to my ctc gladly for 150 a month or whatever. Sigh. And more grumbling.
Just hang in there. I'm sure you'll get a couple going cheap on Gumtree or Junkmail. There's always someone who gets tired of it quickly, or gets it on upgrade and doesn't want it
Maybe I can still add it to my contract.
R150 a month seems much more palatable than 3k+ up front for a device I definitely don't need![]()

Correct. Ask them to add it to your contract. You may need to pay a little more to complete it within 24 months.
Yes. I'll see what they say![]()
