I think the best thing that could happen when you get a new phone, is a little scratch or a non-lethal drop, because then you can really start using your phone.

People use screenguards, protective cases, the whole schebang, but as soon as they get a little scratch, they stop trying to protect the phone and actually start using it properly. :D

However, some phones do not have a grippy back, and can fly out of your hand when you take it out of your pocket. For those, a rubber/plastic case might be a lifesaver.

Saying that, my S2 never had any "protection", and that's how I like it, because you can't appreciate the phone's real beauty when it's hidden under a big case or two screen protectors. :p

I've got a rule that I have followed since my first phone - phone in left pocket, car keys in right pocket.

What you say is very true, but it's a really sad feeling when your brand new phone gets a scratch on the case or screen the first time. :(

Only for two minutes. Then you realise that nobody at work can steal your phone anymore, as it has a distinctive marking. :)

And you stop worrying about it.

Some people are just really sloppy and careless, so they need to take out insurance on their phone as standard.

I remember a girl at work got a brand new iPhone 5, and as she took it out of the box, one of her colleagues wanted to hold it.

So he dropped it on the table.

I wish I had my phone's camera ready that day, and could capture the horrified look on her face - and his lobster red face.

Priceless. :)

Went digging for some vids on Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to help out the paranoid amongst us.
If you are less careful than these deliberate attempts - nothing will save you or your phone.

I have never used a screen protector and don't intend to start.

My kids have S3's and my wife an S4. Kids drop their phones often - drives me nuts. Watched the S3's drop out of back pockets onto the brick driveway when getting into the car - often. Not one of us has a screen protector and not one of us has a damaged screen. Am surprised the S3's are not shattered already though. The girls phones see serious punishment.

I often share my cell in my pocket with keys and an eCig.

Ultra-thin 0.5mm Qi Wireless Charging Receiver Card Coil for Samsung Galaxy Note III

So I picked up a Qi Receiver for wireless charging from Ebay : http://www.ebay.com/itm/301014516287?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

I pulled the trigger on this as well, still waiting on delivery : http://www.ebay.com/itm/281158753174?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Receiver Pros :
- 0.5mm make this one of the thinnest receivers out there
- Built in NFC
- Reasonable price, seller kept me informed, speedy delivery

Cons :
- NFC chip at the top of the receiver makes a slight bulge below the camera, not enough to bother me though someone in this thread will have a hissy fit (TJ99) :D
- May not work with all cases

This sounds like a trojan, to me. If you've had your phone connected at a computer that has a trojan, I know some of them do this: they set your folders to hidden, system folders (the contents are still intact), then it creates .exe files with the names of the folders, and changes your explorer settings (if it was set to show file extensions) to hide file extensions. So when you want to access the folder, it obviously runs the .exe file and executes whatever it is the trojan was designed to do. It obviously doesn't do anything, or even work, on your phone through Android, as it's Linux-based and the trojan is Windows-based. But it can cause some problems in Windows.

What I do, is I change my settings to show system and hidden files & folders, then I copy my original folders to my hard drive (the ones that still contains all my data), then I format the flashdrive, or in this case, the micro SD card. Then I use command promt to force the system and hidden attribute on the folders and files back to normal (this setting can't be changed within the Windows or Explorer interface, it needs to be done via command promt), then I copy my stuff back to the respective external storage medium.

Thanks for the help.
I tried your suggestion but no luck.
I've formatted the card and will just have to monitor it. In the interim, I'll be saving all photos and videos to the phone by default and using the card as a backup, until I'm convinced the problem won't recur.

Ok i have a new issue.... any one here seeing major data use... like a constant 300kbps.... used over 500mb in a week..... im too scared to turn mobile data on now.

Can be one of many things.

Like auto software update, play store auto update, etc.

But seriously, why all the fuss over 500MB of data?

I still have 8.5GB left of my phone's monthly data bundle.
