Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I just installed Phronesis on my Galaxy Note 3. However, the APN settings say my user is not allowed to change the settings. So I have followed all the various links on the internet (rebooted a million times with WiFi on) and still can't get it to work. So now I'm dirty flashing it again and trying to select another CSC.

I tried XFM since I'm using Afrihost on MTN first. Now I'm trying XFU (which nobody else has explained), and I'll flash again and try XFV (Vodacom, which was my original provider when I bought the phone).

Any advice?
Shouldn't we be using BTU?

No thank you. My requirements are: Stability, Battery life, Speed; in that order.

Well you did say you tried XFM / XFU / XFV .. which is the official Samsung with local carrier bloat.. the polish/german doesn't have any carrier bloat.

if you said you needed speed etc I wouldn't have mentioned official lollipop for the note 3

You seem to be missing the point that we are talking about which CSC wont give a specific error on a custom ROM. The phronesis ROM doesn't come with any carrier bloat as you put it anyway.

For what it's worth, I used that and still had the same problem. According to my Google search, BTU = UK.
BTU is unbranded UK rom, it's often used globally(if you have matching hardware) by anyone who wants a vanilla touchwiz rom. I've always used them and not had any issues.

What is the issue with the Csc, isn't there an app that can change it on rooted roms?

This ROM seems to have broken the APN settings. Or, rather, it's a translation of something inherently broken in the TW world - at least as far as my research goes.

I thought intelli3G via Xposed would be a work around, but no luck.

Thanks. That makes a lot of sense. I thought that by choosing the wrong CSC, it was preventing me from choosing the MTN APNs. I will choose BTU next time if given the choice.

I hadn't said it before but I'm saying it now! :D

The Saga continues. I managed to accidentally download V13 of Norma (I stupidly chose the version linked from teamandroid) instead of downloading the latest from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...t/n9005-lollipop-5-0-s5-note3-stable-t2994680

Download ETA: 4 hours. :erm: :(

I woke up this morning to find the supposedly resumeable download stuck at 537 MB / 1.23 GB. It turns out that https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24369303960684284 has some kind of download limit. I also discovered a bug in Ninja Download Manager that disables the "Refresh Download Link". Thankfully I just had to pause the download, then exit (which also didn't work - had to kill it!). The option to refresh returned when I reopened it.

It's currently downloading like a snail. Is there some kind of international incident that it's so damn slow using ADSL? I'm getting 60-80 KN/s on my 4 meg line. If the internet was an actual person, I'd headbutt them. Guess I have another day without this. Probably will get stuck again before I get back from work.

Why don't you try CM13... 2-300MB

I just downloaded it in 5 minutes. Telkom Uncapped LTE FTW!

I tried CM11 and wasn't very impressed with it. I will admit that it was the first custom ROM I ever installed, so maybe I didn't know better. PAC-ROM was so much shinier!

Either way, my download will be done by the time I get back from work and I don't see why I'd download another ROM if there's a perfectly good one waiting for me. :)

Thank you for the support and advice. I really appreciate it. I will keep you posted when the day is done.

FUUUUUU!!!!!!! <Insert meme picture here>

So the problem is on the Norma ROM too. I went looking for the CM build for my phone: https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=hlte - As you can see, they only have nightlies of 12 and nothing on CM13 yet.

Going to have to search for another ROM. And I can't use 5.1.1. Fantastic.

V5.1 of phronesis has the same issue, but I got the afrihost apn working with a small workaround.
