Time for me to sign a new contract. Loved me Note 3, anyone else upgrading soon? What phones are you looking at?

Tempted to just keep using my Note.

I'm keeping my note 3. That's why I'm on a mission to find a rom with good battery life. What will a new phone have that mine doesn't? Except maybe a fingerprint reader, which I can live without this year.

I'm up for an upgrade in April. Unless something great happens by then, I'm probably carry on with my Note3. If my wife sees something she likes, I guess I'll get that and carry on using the note.

I'm due in April. I see MTN, Telkom and to a lesser extent Cell C have good options.

Atm I'm looking the Note 4, G4 and Huawei Mate S. If the Note 4 is still available by then I'll take it on MTN and load up a Note5 Rom on it within a week.

The Note 3 is still better than most of what's what's out atm, that's how ahead of the curve it was when it released.

The new phones coming will be good but way out of my budget.
Okay, I installed idleKernel. Now what?! There's no GUI and I'm not sure if simply installing it is enough. Recommended settings?

Thanks again for your help.
Try FauxKernel123, Kernel Adituor or Trickster Mod to edit kernel settings. I usually set it to underclock 19500 MHz, interactive, core saving and Westwood.

If u need screen shots I'll organize.

Stupidly, I offered my phone to my mom shortly after I got it... Haha! Didn't know the Note 3 would turn out so good....

Might just get a cheaper phone and give that to my mom.

N900 is a difficult one. There are Roms but how good they are is another thing. Nowhere near Phronesis level I'd imagine.

My cousin also needs something for N900 so if you test any good ones please send feedback. I'll also check XDA tomorrow.

Dude, Phronesis 5.1 with idleKernel. I fix the apn issue and you're golden. I'm on the end of day two and still on 54% battery.

You are on 54% after two days of normal usage? Wow

I'm lucky if I get 8 hours on the normal android 5.0 that my N9005 was upgraded to

I think I'm going to Google how to root my phone and then install this phronesis ROM

Thanks :)

@Shiverz. Do you know about any compatability issues with Note 3 running Phronesis and the Galaxy Gear S?

It should be fine. It's a full TW ROM, and comes with Gear Manager pre-loaded.

I haven't had a Note 3 for a while now. I'm using a LG G4 and also a G3. I'm going to swap my G3 for a Note 3 because I need it to work with my Galaxy Gear S. Without a Samsung Phone the Gear is just an expensive watch.

So I might leave it standard for a while before I start playing around with it again. I just love how easy it is to flash ROMs on a Samsung device. It's not that easy on LG.

Yeah, I found the same when I broke that LG with the 3D camera thingy - don't remember the model.

On the note3, if phronesis gives hassles, it's easy enough to roll back to stock from sammobile I guess.

I chose Kernel Adituor based on ratings (4.7 vs. Trickster's 4.5) and price (Free vs. Faux's paid).

Set the settings you recommended, but I don't see what Westwood should be? I tried Googling, and found it under TCP congestion algorithm (in the Misc Controls) for anyone else wanting to apply this change.

Thanks again!

Sorry man I was rushing that day. But you got it right. Hows the screen on time now after 2-3 battery cycles?

I am using AURORA

http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...urora-n900-s6-note-5-features-port-4-t3228618

Its not bad, can get laggy at times but overall quite happy with it.

There are not many lollipop roms for the N900 that I could find. Tried the CM12 unofficial something or other, performance was great, but just wasnt for me. No S Pen for example.

Guys, I only ever get a max of around 10 hours battery life. Surely this isn't normal? I'm on the stock TouchWiz, N9005

This is what I did, saving myself lots of money. Top up contract = R59.00 @ month. Note 3 still brand new.

Sorry I didn't catch this yesterday but I have no experience with Smartwatches as yet. But it should be fine as it's Note5 port.
