Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Has anyone noticed that the wifi signal is terrible on the N3? I can be on top of the modem and be getting 1 bar. Wtf.
 
Also noticed that yes, my Note 2 and S4 had a much stronger signal.

Sitting here with full strength. Wireless access point is upstairs (Asus N66U).
Can also connect to my home office one on the other side of the property - but weak connection.

Maybe me just lucky.

I don't know what wifi modems you guys are using but I have great wifi signal! As soo as I Park my car at home, my wifi connects! I really have great wifi reception on mine...

Maybe try different channels to broadcast on. There might be interference

Good point. I was getting bad interference from neighbours on my office wifi at one point. Used wifi analyser to see what channels were in use and separated them. Been solid since.

The strongest Smit (in pic) is my Asus upstairs which I am currently connected to. Weaker one (same channel) is the home office and Mike 3G is the mifi in the car which is on the far side of the property. Pretty decent.

Yeah also use that app... I don't have any open channels though, living in a complex....

The strongest two are mine. Red is my portable wifi on LTE and Blue is my home network for sharing and streaming.

Some "clever" guy at another store told me any cover will work as long as it have a magnet in it, so I took mine off and showed him the connector pins on the inside of the S-view cover. As soon as you clip it on your N3 picks it up as a accessory.

The S-View cover with the two connector pins is the normal one then you get one with more connector pins and a "magnet" on the inside of the back cover. That is for wireless charging.

I stand to be corrected but I think the silber pins relate to NFC not S View. I have tried fake s4 covers that clip over the back cover and they work fine...
 
I'd just like to let those waiting for BBM know that it has been released on the Samsung App store. It is ONLY on that store and not on the Google Play store as yet.
 
Coming from the Nokia N9...

The Note 3 is brilliant...but only because it has a sh## load of apps and hardware features built into it like this TV remote chip that i am having a blast with... But I must admit that the user interface of the Nokia N9 is by faaaaaaaaaar the best interface that I have used.

Dislike:
I do not like the fact that I have to long press the menu button, then swipe apps to the left to close it. On the Nokia N9, all that I had to do was swipe the app down and its closed. A simple gesture...

You don't need to close apps on android.

When you "have" all your resources, it's as good as the phone not having them in the first place.

RAM that is not being used (for caching) is of no use at all. There was a time, about 10-15 years ago, when RAM was a scarce and expensive resource. Computers did not have enough RAM, and on top of that the Operating Systems did a poor job of managing RAM. Many people, myself included, used tools to "free up" RAM in an effort to increase performance.

Today, we have an abundance of RAM in our PC's and phones. RAM that is not actively in use are utilized by keeping previously open apps/data in that RAM. This results in much faster access when those apps/data are needed. On top of this, it does not use more energy/battery to keep apps/data in memory.

Modern operating systems are very good at managing RAM. There really is no need for your to close any apps. If anything, I would guess it might even impact battery life negatively as apps/data now needs to be loaded into RAM over and over again.

That is not too bad. Even tho screen on time was just over 4 hours only, phone was on all the time.

Not bad at all. In fact the battery on my N3 is best I have ever had. The extra juice is much appreciated. :D
 
Anyone got insurance on there note 3 yet?
need something good at a good price...
