Was this wifi issue a problem out of the box or did it develop over a period of time?
If so, after how long?
I wouldn't want to "waste" one ADH swopout on something like this. Seems like a manufacturing defect if it gets fixed with a repair. ..

But this is making me reconsider now. ..

Out of the box.

I'm running Windows 8 64bit on a Samsung laptop and Kies 3 doesn't work. It sits there with a "Connecting..." status and the spinning icon. When I change the connection from MTP to PTP, it complains that it needs to be on MTP, yet when I change it back, it won't connect.

Damnit. I redownloaded it and went through the troubleshooting again. This time, reinstalling the drivers worked.

My experience with the Note 3:

Picked up my Note 3 on the 29th Oct from Cell C Pavillion in Durban. Checked device in store to make sure no out of box failure. Put the phone on initial charge that night (device was switched off). When I checked the in the morning the device was extremely hot and the battery didnt charge at all, infact it had lost 50% of its charge from when I first plugged it in.

Brought the device to work and put it on charge again. Device charged up to 100% and was working fine until I noticed a pink hue on the top third of the screen that appeared to get progressively worse. Took the device back to the store (only 20 hours after receiving it) and I was informed that an immediate replacement could not be granted as the device has to be sent in for an assessment.

I decided to remove the sim card before leaving and then noticed the sim card was melted, deformed and stuck in the slot. Thereafter the phone refused to switch on at all.

I now have to wait 7 days for an answer from Cell C as to whether the device will be repaired or replaced. Considering the heat generated that melted the sim card there is most definitely heat damage to other components.

Needless to say I am very upset considering this occurred within 24 hours of unboxing the device.

I have decided to cancel this contract by attempting to exercise my consumer protection rights and wait a while before getting another Note 3. But judging from the pathetic service I am currently receiving from Cell C this may also be a problem.

Seems as though people around the world are being plagued by various issues with this device. I have an S4 with no issues whatsoever. Looks like Samsung are overlooking quality control in favour of higher production rates :(

hi rishaada ,
i am sorry to read about your misfortune ,bad luck .I guess this happens !
Howerever i do think your one comment "Seems as though people around the world are being plagued by various issues with this device..etc ..etc " is misplaced and wrong .I understand you are disappointed ,but i do also read and belong to other international forums and my observation/read, is that only a small percentage ? has really such misfortune.?
Overall i have seen plenty of comments and most of them are positive, regarding the Note 3 !!
I have a note 2 ,note 8.0 and note 3 and i am happy with the quality of my phones !
Anycase good luck .I think your fight is with Cell C !!

Further ,
i sideload apps onto my gear with Wondershare Mobilego for android ,you have to install pc exe ( free app 15 days trail or buy full version which is very expensive ,but yes then this hobby is expensive !! )PC exe search Google and it will auto install drivers for gear etc (eg.. calculator, keyboard and i see some people are running Nova on their gear !!!)
I connected my gear to pc and can see screenshots and even install free apps from Playstore via Wondershare
You can also connect Note 3 to wondershare and also manage sms ,contacts( duplicate s ) apps

Just out of curiosity, how much will having the screen set to manual and max brightness affect my battery? Until now I have had it set to Auto (which is half way) but made the mistake of seeing what full brightness looks like and completely re-fell in love with my phones screen so want to keep it set to max so just curios about how it will affect my battery?

Disagree. There is a large percentage of note 3 owners world wide with issues.

if you read my post i was talking about myself ( my observation )!
"Overall i have seen plenty of comments and most of them are positive, regarding the Note 3 !!"
and i am talking about hardware ,eg .where an phone just melts ..as in rishaada case ???
(not software issues eg lag this and that ,
further ,i read in latest update for NOTE 3( a few days ago) some wifi improvements or something was done ??)

Some stats please? Every new device (or even old ones) have their share of defective units. Just scouring the internet for people complaining about them will result in the worst case of selection bias the world has ever known. Believe me, plenty of people were complaining about the Galaxy S4 as well.

That's why we have warranties and replacements, the manufacturer knows a certain percentage of units made WILL be duds.

Use it, don't use it. I am not trying to take anything away from the phone, it is an awesome device. I am simply pointing out that a it appears based on a simple google search that there is clearly an issue with SOME of the N3's out there.

I could have taken the device into Samsung for a replacement by utilizing one of my ADH premium incidents but why should I, considering the device failed due to a manufacture defect within 24 hours of purchase? Cell C still insist on making me wait 7 days or more, to ascertain whether the failure could have been my fault, even though it is clear that there is no physical or water damage whatsoever. Furthermore should they choose to repair the device there is a high possibility I will have future issues as the heat generated was intense enough to melt the SIM, so there is a very high possibility other components were affected and may fail in time.

I guess I just have to hope and pray I can get this contract cancelled (I am getting a feeling that is not going to be easy) and wait a while before getting another Note 3. Just got my S4 6 months ago but unfortunately being an impulsive buyer and a gadget freak at the same time is a bad combination.
