I'm also looking at this option - I'm also on stock Rom 4.4.2 and it doesn't look like Cell C is in much of a hurry to give us the update.

Hi guys,

Which firmware can you recommend for a N900?

I don't see Poland or UK there. Main ones are Panama, UAE and Russia.

Wouldn't suggest it if you need root and lots of hacks/Xposed etc. I'd wait for everything to get properly ported and maybe hitting 5.1?

I went looking for a Lollipop 5.1.1 ROM release (i.e. not a nightly build) and finally found something I felt comfortable with: SOKP Android 5.1.1 ROM for Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

It's working nicely. The main selling point is the battery life. I was running KitKat and was finishing the day with between 10% and 30% battery, depending on use. Now it managed to get through a whole day and to the next evening without charging!

The only thing annoying me is that it comes pre-installed with Layers 3.7 and the Google Play Store is trying unsuccessfully to update to Layers 4.1. The store notes say that you need to first uninstall when < 4.0, but there is no option to do so that I can see. It seems baked into the ROM. Any suggestions on how to fix it without waiting for a ROM update?

Uninstall using Titanium Backup.

Titanium Backup error: "Cannot remove system app. Failed to locate the apk file."

Ok you can try something like this:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jumobile.manager.systemapp&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ljmobile.system.app

Apps haven't been updated in a while tho. Or you can use something like Root Explorer and locate the apk manually and remove it. I'm not sure what layers is exactly... I've been using CM for a long, long time.

Thanks. I remembered I had ES File Explorer. That led me to their task manager, which finally led me back to the right location of system apps in ES FE. I did an uninstall and needed to reboot to remove from the settings menu. I hope this helps someone :)

I think I just screwed my phone up. I was running CM12.1, I did a factory reset where I erased my sim card and cleared everything on my phone.
It looks like it is stuck in a boot loop now where TeamWin flashed the whole time.

I could get into DL mode so... I am flashing stock LP. SamMobile doesn't have 5.1 for some reason...

And now my screen is just black with the battery and reception showing... GOD

Have you cleared the cache and dalvik cache in recovery?

That may very well sort it out, if you haven't already tried that. You supposed to do that every time you load a new rom that's not a sequential stock room.

Yeah I figured it out shortly afterward. I cleared everything. Thanks.
