What i dont understand is that Samsung have asked people to power off note 7's etc yet people are ignoring the dangers and warnings..... A 6yr old gets injured.

True, but I think greedy individuals will milk this...they always do. I wonder how many claims will suddenly appear where the owner is now incapacitated or mentally disturbed because of his phone that caught on fire. I wonder how many will 'make it catch on fire' in order to sue the pants off Samsung.

Opportunists...

I read an article over the weekend where a person claimed his S7 edge exploded in his pants pocket. Apparently it happened in May, weird how this only came to light now...

A (so far, unconfirmed) report from France that Samsung intend to remotely kill all Note 7 handsets at the end of the month.

In what could be Samsung's way to ensure the safety of its customers, the company could remotely deactivate recalled Galaxy Note 7 units that have not been exchanged for new ones after Sept. 30.

Samsung launched a worldwide recall of the Galaxy Note 7 early this month, amid reports that certain units of the smartphone caught fire due to exploding batteries. While the faulty batteries can be found in only a very small percentage of Galaxy Note 7 devices, Samsung is keeping the safety of its customers in mind when it launched the global recall.

Samsung's power and battery problems started immediately after the S2, which was probably the best smart phone SS ever made and will ever make. SS have been ignoring the problem for a long time.

So I does not mater how "good" the product is, if it cannot function reliably in the hands of ordinary people, it is a flop, and an expensive one at that.

Rest in peace SS!
My S2, S3, S4 and Note 4 never had power and battery problems, so not quite sure what you are going on about.

I had nothing but trouble with my S3 and tab 2 both with battery issues. I followed many reports all over the world about ss devices and most issues reported were battery related inc phones that exploded.

I also saw SS responses all of which tried to make out as if these were exceptions rather than the rule.
That is what I am on about.

Much like any OEM that sells devices in large volumes, you are bound to have a lot more people with similar problems, but with the vast majority of devices being fine, it never made it to mainstream media.

The Note7 is a different case altogether to what you are talking about, its the 1st time Samsung uses Samsung SDI as a battery supplier, and they built the batteries in such a faulty manner that ALL Note7s with Samsung SDI Batteries (70% of all Note7s made used SDI Batts) can potentially explode, especially while charging.

This is not cases of people trying to DIY fix their phones or use fake chargers and then cry foul when it doesn't play nice with their device and blows it up.

I have had all notes range and s range... Only a s5 had a out of box failure with battery getting so hot and was replaced.... Otherwise all my devices have been excellent..

The s7 edge has the best battery life of any phone i have ever owned.....
Lets hope the note 7 comes back with a vengeance and wins back its place in the market

Would you sit on a plane with someone next to you charging the Note7? How do you know its not a faulty Note 7. It will just take one more incident even after the replacement to bring this whole issue back to life.

Samsung has to do more than just replace the battery to convince the people. I think they must discontinue the model, tweak its design and then put it back on the market.

My point is that SS ignored the growing evidence that they had an issue with power management and batteries. The problem surfaced with the S3. It grew from a few isolated casers which could be rationalised away as many commentators on this thread have done, until it blew up in their faces. They are now forced to face up to it.

SS deserve everything that is heading their way, and I have absolutely no sympathy for them. The arrogance of big business needs events such as this to force them to take notice.

Frankly If I was to get on board an aircraft today, I would expect the airline to demand that all smart devices are switched off for the duration of the flight, like it always has been. I cannot see the personnel running around form seat to seat checking if the passenger has an S7. A blanket ban on the use of all devices is what I would expect.

But this has nothing to do with your view that they a have issue with power management and batteries, this is isolated to Note7 and a 1st time Battery Supplier. Thats what they are fixing.

They will just use past suppliers who's batteries you may have had problems with, but vast majority of us never did.

My Note 4 has had issues with battery life, but I think I was at fault, leaving the charger on overnight a few times (maybe more than a few *cough*).

My contract renewal is in Feb 2017 so plenty of time for Samsung to sort out the 7 and be ready for me :D

many people leave it on overnight. manufacturers should design them as such.
