Samsung Galaxy Note 7 (previously Note 6)

Samsung's power and battery problems started immediately after the S2, which was probably the best smart phone SS ever made and will ever make. SS have been ignoring the problem for a long time.

So I does not mater how "good" the product is, if it cannot function reliably in the hands of ordinary people, it is a flop, and an expensive one at that.

Rest in peace SS!

Hopefully note 7 will be discounted. Might still go for one if discounted

Best phone was the Note 1 (N7000), my missus is still using it.

I am partial to the Note 3.

They can rename this model the True Note 6 and then introduce a Proper S7 that won't explode in your face.

Problem solved.

I suspect there will be a Galaxy Note 8 out a lot sooner than expected, the Note 7 is a pretty toxic name now.

Samsung is pretty toxic now.
This is what I will want from SS, just to have a look at one of their smart devices in future:

(1) A 100 % guarantee that the device will NOT catch fire or even over heat under ALL charging conditions.
(2) Full and free lifetime insurance cover for injury and death, regardless of who use the device.
(3) A removable battery in ALL their devices again.

My Opinions

Wow, this thread has become all DOOM and GLOOM.......

I have a Note 7 (Faulty Unit) and it is being replaced. I agree it is a terrible thing to happen to such a brilliant phone but at least Samsung is going about it the right way. They are not forcing anyone to buy their products or the Note 7 to be exact. There was an issue with a batch of them but at least the have owned up to the issue are are replacing the faulty units with new ones (Not repairing or supplying Refurbished phones).

When Apple had "BENDGATE" it was user abuse (I had 2 6 pluses that bent) They refused to replace them.

When LG had the Poor Finishing on the G5 they ignored it (I went through 5 x G5's Until i gave up)

When your car has a safety re-call they don't replace it, they repair it and you are happy to be on your way again, they don't extend your warranty or offer you anything else.

Why should we handle Samsung differently? I for one applaud Samsung for the quick reaction and ownership of the issue. I am in no way a Samsung Fanboy but I love my Note 7 and in my personal opinion it is the best android phone i have used to date (And i have had them all, including different brands)

I am saddened that this issue has chased a lot of people away from what truly is the BEST Note in the series, but once again it is your prerogative whether to buy one or not.

Totally agree with you. The lg g4 had a bootloop issue with majority of the g4 devices. Samsung stepped up.

I will continue to support samsung. Will just wait for the note 7 to re-released

RochaZA I could not have said it better.

I believe the fact that Samsung is prepared to replace the phones speaks well of the character of the Company.

This is my opinion. I do however agree on the removable battery.

Agree with RochaZA, this is still probably the best phone at the moment.

It is a real shame that this had to happen, my issue is not so much with Samsung as it is with Vodacom. They phoned me when i pre ordered and said that i could get a phone but none of the extras they promised. When i asked why not, they simply said sorry there was nothing extra with them, just the phone. Hmmm... ok i saw that Cresta had the phones and phoned and they could keep one for me, only to be told i am on the old system and they are having issues transferring me, but will get back to me as soon as they fixed it. 2 days no call and ignored my calls, then the whole recall happened. Plus a month earlier we spent a whole weekend trying to get my wife's phone upgraded. Also system issues being offline and branches lying about stock and then finally getting stock and then not on the new system, finally getting her on and then not having nano sims. So might just skip this whole upgrade cycle and see what next year holds. Or maybe even moving to the yellow company.
